Great cat door but locks are a little difficult to operate
We moved into a new house and needed a cat door to install into our hollow basement door. We have a dog that lives on the main level and the animals don't always get along so the cats can go down stairs to get away and that also where we keep the litter boxes and there food....we wanted a door that would lock so that we could keep them in basement if we wanted to.A couple main features that we liked about this cat door....1. Separate locks for going in and going out2. Actually sealed the cutout in the door....some doors didn't have plastic pieces that would block the entrance into the middle of the door. Only issue if your installing in a hollow core or internal door.3. Was easy to install. The cat door came with everything that was needed to install it except for the actual saw....I used one side of the door as a template to trace onto the door so I knew where to cut the door out...it came with the screws needed to fasten it to the door and even little plastic inserts to cover the screw holes. It does have two separate plastic slide locks for the door so you can lock it in either direction or both which is nice as sometimes cats are upstairs and we want them to be able to go down stairs to feed or use the litter box but not come back up.The door does have small brush weather strip around the door but I wouldn't consider it weather tight to be used in an exterior door unless you live in tampered climate.I would buy again and recommend it to family or friends if someone needed an interior cat door.It is also large enough for my 25 lbs cat but still work for our 5 lbs cat also....

Great value!
I bought this to use in a guest bathroom window. Buying a pre-made adjustable cat door for my window would have cost me close to $200. Instead I used this cat door along with a piece of wood and some weather stripping and it is far more sturdy than I imagine the more expensive option would have been. The door itself is great. It was very simple to install and, other than cutting away some of the inner thickness (as they mention may be necessary) in order to fit the thickness of my board, it was very quick. Even that just took some creativity, a jigsaw, and 5 minutes. The cat door functions flawlessly. The swing open and closed is so much better than those doors using rubber flaps. The locks work and are very simple to figure out.Overall I am so pleased with this door and how the project worked out. I would definitely recommend this cat door to anyone looking to install in a door as intended, or those like me who need an inexpensive alternative to incorporate in their own project.

Great for the money - but the lock can't stop my cat :)
This was a very easy product to install, and it was exactly what I needed for an indoor cat door. The lock did not stop my cat (I have 15lb. muscular, Siamese-mix tom cat), which was a little disappointing, but, I am not too surprised because my cat has busted out of a cat kennel, and dragged an ammo can with two 5lb weights in it - so not too much surprises me with him :). I don't know how well the lock would stand up to an "ordinary" cat (a non-Jedi cat lol). But, the flap and the frame work great and when I need to I can block off the doorway with sufficiently weighted down material (a guy needs his sleep, ya know!!). I plan to order another one of these when I get ready to create a doorway to the den/kitchen area.

Great product and east to install
This is my second order for the cat door. The first one lasted about 3 years, but with the Florida heat the plastic door cracked. I look forward to at least another 3 years of use..

Not the best but not the worst
The quality of the product has nothing to do with how easy it installed. No doubt that any such pet door requires cutting a hole into a door. How hard cutting a hole into a door is depends on the tools that you have on hand.As for the door, it looks as if it will last awhile, especially since the cat wants nothing to do with going through it.lolOperating the lock is a little on the difficult side. There are these little finish caps that cover the heads of the screws that hold the two sides of the door together and installing those caps is not an easy task, at least the ones that came with the product that purchased were very hard to install.Overall...I'd say that this is a good door for the price. The worst part of the job is cutting the hole into the door. The installtion is pretty straight forward , once the hole for the pet door is cut.

Great value, cat loves it. STICKS OPEN EVERY TIME ITS USED.
This door is installed in a window for our car Norman Bates. He is psycatic about being able to have access to the outdoors when HE wants it 24/7. It was relatively easy to install in a piece of plywood (once my husband read the directions). The reason I cannot give it more than three stars is that months after installing the cat door is that after Norman uses the door it remains stuck open... WIDE open. It's not catching on curtains, blinds or furniture. I thought at first it may be due to just being "new" and it would get "broken in" and begin closing on it's own, but almost 5 months later it remains agape up Norman's entry to the house. This poses a problem when we arent home and at night because it often drops to -30 with the wind chill. We put the door on a protected side of the house so no snow comes in, however even ambient cold coming in at those temperatures, or rather the heat leaking out of the house makes this door extremely inefficient. When its closed it works like a charm and there is virtually no cold/warm air displacement. If you put your hand near the window you can feel the cold like you would a regular window, but no leaks of wind. So that's great. But having it stick every time Norman uses it almost defeats the purpose of having one, which was to avoid opening the door constantly in subzero temperatures.

Works and good price
I had a handy friend install it. Cutting the hole is a bit difficult, but my cat quickly learned to use it to go in and out.
