NexTrend 3rd Generation Purple Garlic Twist

This is the best gizmo for producing finely minced garlic. I peel garlic first and give it a press with a knife, and then let 'er rip. It produces finely minced garlic in no time. I needed 2 tablespoons for a recipe yesterday and it saved me so much time! It use a demitasse spoon to scoop it out and poke out the garlic between its teeth--works very well. I put it on the top rack of the dishwasher and it cleans up beautifully. It enables you to avoid garlicky hands. I have't tried it with nuts yet. It does not seem large enough for large quantities, but I can see how it would work well.

I bought this as a gift for some seniors I know who love cooking. I have had one for 10 plus years and when my mom and aunt were at my house and got to experience the ease of use they were sold. They are great for those with arthritis or no strength in their hands. I don't have these issues but still love the ease of use when mincing my garlic and we love garlic in our home. The only problem is extracting the garlic from the prongs and not wasting any. I found running the knife through the prongs gets most of it. I put mine in the dishwasher (top shelf) and it comes clean with no problem. It is durable and works beautifully time after time. Mine is washed several times a week. I have many garlic mincer tools and this is my favorite by far. If I ever need to replace mine I will but this same thing. I have the purple one but bought white for gifts and they all seem great (no color issues). Highly recommend for any home cook who love their garlic but especially those with no strength in hands , it is a life changer.

Garlic twist can become addictive it makes mincing garlic so quick and easy. I can't say it's perfect - careful use of a sharp knife does a better job, but the Garlic Twist is good enough for most of my cooking needs and unless you are a pro with a knife, the garlic twist is much quicker and safer. To some extent the garlic is crushed and more oils are left behind in the Garlic Twist than on my cutting board, but the speed of mincing two cloves at a time is worth the loss.The unit is small, easy to store and clean, and, as promised, can work for a person with arthritic wrists and fingers, a real surprise for me! When I first looked at it I was surprised to find glass "blades" that seemed too thick to work, but I have been proven wrong. My one reservation, I chose the purple color rather than clear so I could more easily see if there were any damage to the Twist during use. None has occurred in several uses.The Garlic Twist does mince other foods as well, but each food item presents unique issues. For example, when I used in to mince fresh ginger, while it worked, the ginger released a tremendous amount of liquid that leaked out of the Twist. Presumably I lost a lot of flavor as I didn't have a bowl nearby to catch the juice. With my knife, I don't see any liquid while mincing ginger . So there are pros and cons. Probably not the best choice for an epicure, but a really quick and easy way to mince garlic and other foods in small quantities. Overall, I love it.

Saw that this garlic “grinder” won some product awards and figured I’d give it a try, especially since I was tired of picking garlic remnants out of our traditional garlic press. This works so much better and is far easier to clean. Buy this grinder. You won’t be disappointed!

Love this little guy. It’s so easy to have fresh garlic now. Easy to peel by just hitting the cloves with the bottom of mincer and then throw in the cloves and turn. It’s that easy. Although, a little pricey, it’s well worth the price. I think it will last a long time. Very sturdy.

I ordered purple but received a clear, colorless one. It chops the garlic well, but is both hard to get the garlic out of and hard to clean.

This is my 4th garlic chopping tool and it's now my last! Easy to use and I am so happy with it, finally! My main concern with my other choppers was cleaning, but this cleans easily. I use a thin rubber spatula (like what you use to get the last bit of makeup out of a bottle) or a bottle brush and it's clean. I've only had it for a few days so I can't comment on durability but it certainly is well made

Besides the neat color (remember, purple is the color of royalty), this little gadget is the mark of simplicity. You just put some pieces of garlic (they must be cut up to fairly small sizes) in the bottom of the little unit, put the top on and twist the top back and forth. Yes, it takes a little finger/hand power, but in 30 seconds, it's done, and you have very small minced onion. Clean up is a snap; just rinse out with warm soapy water. Oh, the only minor problem is getting the small garlic out of the teeth of the unit. I use either a toothbrush or other brush with fairly firm brushes. Really, such a simple product that works so well and is very durable. It's heavy duty plastic, and unless you throw it on your floor as hard as you can (and even then it may not break), it will probably outlast you.

I actually bought another garlic machine from Lakeland but it diced and did not crush and mince so I thought I would try this as I'm mad for kitchen gadgets.Well it's fantastic and to be honest is the only garlic gadget I use now. It's simple, cleans easily with a rinse and gives finely minced and crushed garlic.My biggest tip to get the garlic into two triangles like the YouTube videos is to put the thicker lid side in and turn it upside own to use, then swivel back and forth until you get the two triangles of garlic. Turn it the right side up when finished an lift the lid and you'll get most of the garlic inside on the bottom ready to tap out or scoop out with a spoon or spatula.Love the colour too, and well worth the money for quickness, fun and finely minced garlic.

I bought version 1 many many moons ago, and this fast became my favourite kitchen gadget. I can't do without it!It's great to help peel the garlic, smash it with the base and peel. Easy. Chop the hard nubbin off the end and place into the gadget. Mix and the more you mix the finer the garlic gets minced. It does 4 cloves max. Also works with peeled ginger, but chop it smaller.It's so easy to clean. Garlic is antibacterial, so rinse under a warm tap.Note...We started dishwashing our generation 1 version recently and low and behold, teeth dropped off. Absolutely devastating, especially as they're sooo easy to rinse. Won't be making the same mistake with this one.Glad they've made this generation bigger and more colourful.Highly recommend!

I don't usually write reviews but I was so impressed with this gadget that i feel I need to. It is simply the best Garlic crusher I have ever owned. Using the flat bottom of the substantial, but neat,piece of kit to press each clove in order to remove the skin was effortless and after initially using a little effort for the first twist to start the process so was crushing the garlic gloves, a couple of twist of the wrist and they are crushed to perfection. There is virtually no waste as scraping the garlic out is a dawdle and cleaning the Garlic Twist is just as simple as the YouTube videos show. A quick rinse under the tap removes what little garlic is left in the press. I used it for ginger too, I would say that the ginger needed to be cut into pieces and was slightly tougher for the initial twist but a few twists later I had perfectly crushed/chopped ginger. So much quicker and easier than trying to chop it with a knife and much safer than grating. I was so impressed by this gadget that within hours of getting mine I ordered another one as a gift for a foodie friend.

Good alternative to the standard garlic crushers. Crushes garlic quite easily but can require a little force on the first twist. Sometimes pre chopping larger cloves helps the process along a bit. A firm tap on a work surface usually gets most of the garlic out but on occasions you have to scoop round to get it all out.I've had success using this to mince ginger and chillies, again a little pre chopping makes things easier.The real highlight of this little device is how simple it is to clean, just a rinse or swish in some hot water and the job is done. No more scraping and poking little bits of garlic out of those metal things.A great addition to my kitchen. Highly recommend!

This is such a great little kitchen helper. Just peel the garlic cloves, pop them in and twist away. The garlic very quickly becomes minced up and ready to use. There is no waste as all the garlic clove is minced up. So so much better than my old garlic crusher where I had to squeeze handles together and was left with a mush inside and hardly any garlic coming out. The twister is so easy to wash that I don't bother to put it in the dishwasher.Not sure what each generation brings, maybe just a colour! I have a green one given to me in the summer and have bought this lovely purple one for a friend.
