Modelling Transport 4th Edition

This books presents several models for each aspect of transport modelling, pros and cons of each model, and several discussions that might emerge when modelling. An accumulation of several years of experience and a very good expertise. A must have on the personal shelf.

In this area are few books that attract attention. Professor Ortuzar I think it is one of the most prominent writers on transport modeling. The book tackles complex themes and covers mathematical methodology, which recommends it as a practical guide. Great book with a great writing style with thoughtful authors that can communicate a sometimes difficult subject at different levels. Additional chapters from previous editions are definitely worth getting the update.

It is a great and useful book for my students to studying the topic of transport planning and modeling.

Excellent book that sums up the vast knowledge and experience in a concise and precise manner!

I have been in a transportation engineering class this semester and all the students in the class are throughly frustrated by this book with so much passion. The authors write like engineers.. which means they use so much technical language and formula as if they expect "students"to have apriori knowledege. Very little explanation of concepts or why the formula is being used or what the symbols mean or how he got an answer and why thats the answer. It is simply not a book for learning. It is the kind of book you use when you are an authority and know what you are doing. If you are student find another book. I would not recommend this book for any student.. sorry

Modeling transport is a fascinating topic for applied math students.The materials are accessible to undergrads and the book still covers everything in depth.
