Great invention for tremors
I purchased this for a close family friend and uncle in our community, who has Parkinson's disease. He was resorting to being fed by caregivers, losing a little bit of independence. What comes in the box?HandleCharger/AC adapterSpoonOperationOnce charged, this has the capacity to work for a few hours. The attachments come separately and are additional cost to the the starter kit. It comes with a spoon so I also bought him a fork attachment. The handle sits onto a charging dock. The utensils, minus the grip, can be washed. Since the grip is electronic, it is not immersible. The different attachments snap on and snap off. The attachment is stable and secure. The grip is larger than an average spoon, akin to a Good Grips tool. The grip is smooth, though there aren't any issues with gripping or controlling it.The grip compensates for tremors that the user may have. It takes practice for the user to adapt to how to use this. With me mimicking a slight, moderate, or severe tremor, at a repeatable pace, it definitely decreases or compensates for the movements of the attached utensil. I gave it to my uncle to try. He ate a bowl of ice cream with it. I was impressed. It brought tears to my eyes, since it will give him a bit more freedom to cope with his disease. As a follow up, I asked him how it was working out for him, a week later, and he said it was helping a great deal.To me, the device was priceless in giving my uncle a new found freedom.I do wish there were expanded sets, such as a two utensil attachment (such as fork and separate spoon) kit. Hopefully it will come down in price so more can get to use it.

My brother calls it his Earthquake spoon
bought one for my brother who has a brain injury and hand tremors he loves it...worked so well that I purchased another one for my husband who has Parkinson's and for the first time in a long while he was able to eat soup with a spoon instead of drinking it through a straw, he loves it. he eats almost every meal with the spoon. The kit comes with the charging station and the traveling case. It is a shame it is so expensive but after seeing my brother and husband use this and get some of their independence back I have to say it is almost worth every penny. I would have liked to have the fork included along with it since the price is so much and it may take awhile to get the fork for them but they are happy with the spoons. The spoon that comes in the starter kit is the larger one so it is nicer. My husband had to get use to holding such a large handle and re-grip the handle to make it more comfortable but it didn't take too long for him to get the hang of it. I would definitely recommend it for anyone.

Great product- terrible service!
Great product - bad service. We purchase this for my mom who has essential tremors. The product works great for her. Hiwever, The spoon clip broke after 5 months. Although it was covered by warranty, it took a full month to get a replacement. So if you depend on this product to eat, my suggestion is to have back up attachments. I also ordered a fork which got lost in shipment for weeks, and couldn't get them to help locate it even though they had tracking information. The fork didn't work as well for my mom as the spoon did. Again - it's been an awesome product for her to use, Which is why the 4 stars. But service is seriously poor overall, and I would only give that 1 star

Too small and bulky
I hate to give this product 1 star, but unfortunately it just doesn't work for my father. And for such a pricey item, it was quite disappointing to buy it, have it not work and then have to return it. (at my further expense) Not to mention the hassle of the process. The reason it did not work for my father is because the utensil is too short and the handle is too bulky. So for some it will work magnificently and is worth the investment. But for some it will be cumbersome, clumsy and even hard to get to the mouth. My father's regular utensils are: Spoon 71/4" long, Fork 81/8" long ; Liftware is only 6 5/8" long. That combined with the bulky handle made it was just too awkward to use.Fortunately the company has a satisfaction guarantee, but they do make you pay for shipping back regardless of reason. :( Hopefully Liftware will go back to the drawing board and design this utensil with longer dimensions. They could also stand to lower the price by $100, really. The price is a bit steep, but for the lack of a better alternative if they came out with a longer version I would probably "fork" my money out again in a heartbeat.

she is now able to lay back and slowly enjoy her meal
I can not begin to tell you how much my 88 Year old mother-in-law loves your product. It has totally changed her life. Instead of crouching over her plate and praying that she doesn't spill, she is now able to lay back and slowly enjoy her meal. She absolutely loves being able to control her ET and looks forward to going out to lunch with her friends again without being self conscious! She is just raving about it! Thank you, thank you, thank you for the dignity you've allowed me to give her. At 88, there's not a lot of gifts she needs, but this was a life changer!I so appreciate all the personal attention you gave me, and as a nurse, I will truly bring your product to the attention of everyone I know. The customer service department especially is attentive, quick to respond and dedicated to excellence and care. Thank you, Andrew, in particular!Get this product for your loved one with tremors.Terry N

This product is the answer to a prayer!
After watching my mom struggle to eat in public, I began searching for an answer. The Liftware Steady Starter kit was the perfect answer. It was easy for her to use and after using the spoon a couple of times she had it mastered. She was always so embarrassed when she dropped food on her clothes. This, for the most part, has almost become a thing of the past. This kit is not cheap, but if you or s loved one is struggling, it is sure worth the price. Thanks to Lifeware for harnsing the technology that allows this product to be brought to those who need it most.
