Works amazingly well!
Not often do I order something that completely blows away my expectations. I didn't expect it to happen with a relatively inexpensive item like this. Wow. We had a recent snowstorm that killed a lilac tree in our front yard. It's double trunk split and I had nothing to clear it with. I'm someone that loves to do things like this manually rather than with power tools (and I'm cheap) so naturally I ordered a sharp bicycle chain with nylon handles instead of a gas chainsaw. And man was I right to do so. This thing rocks. I've been able to get through the trunk in several places that are 5"-6" in diameter. And fairly quickly too. I got it for this particular task but I'm also a PacNW mountain biker and come across fallen trees pretty much all winter and fall. Being able to clear larger ones for my fellow riders is awesome, and since this tool is light enough to be negligible weight in my pack I'm happy to carry it. I'm also and offroader and I'll certainly be throwing it in the back of the truck just in case, could be the difference between the trail ending or getting on through. It also comes with an emergency blanket, a downloadable wilderness survival PDF and a handwritten thank you note. Big thumbs up Livwild! I'm gonna start giving these out as gifts to all my outdoor friends, haha!

Great saw, if you spend time in the woods you need one.
The media could not be loaded. Great little saw, cut down two 6 to 8 inch standing trees. Don't think it was made to cut down standing trees, but had to make sure it could stand up to some abuse to take up space in my pack. If you spend time out in the wood you need one of these with you. It's light small, and will get the job done. The vedio is of the second tree I cut down. Did not sharpen the saw in between cuts.

It really works!!!
I have a favorite neighborhood trail that was partially blocked by a downed Juniper tree this past winter. I could sneak under it but it was a big hassle when carrying a pack. While I purchased this saw to use on RV camping trips I decided to test it out by trying to remove the downed tree from the trail. It worked, much to my surprise and delight, exactly as advertised. As an occasional gas chainsaw user I had doubts that a human powered version would work without a lot of time and effort. I was delighted to discover how wrong my preconception was. I cut through a couple 1-3 inch branches in less than 2 minutes with very little strain and completed the chore by cutting through the 4 inch diameter trunk (it was mostly the top of the tree that fell accross the trail) in about 45 seconds of moderate effort.I highly recommend this product!

Great for trimming trees with ladder
Got this on a whim to finish off some tree limbs that had partially broken under heavy snow earlier this winter. I don't want to have to stand on a ladder with a chainsaw. It works really well, tackling limbs up to about 6 inches around within a minute or two. Could definitely do much larger limbs if you have the desire or need, but would of course take longer. Very high quality and packs down really small in the included pouch. Handles are tough but comfortable, although I'd recommend using work gloves for added comfort if planning on using for a while. I'm hoping that I'll be able to rig up some rope and extend the handles so I can throw it over higher up limbs that I can't reach with the ladder, but would definitely buy another model like that if I could. I'm using this around the yard for tree trimming but I think it would really shine for camping/backpacking for firewood. Highly recommended.

It works to cut high limbs from trees with one little trick
I bought this to cut limbs from our pecan trees that are 10 to 20 feet off the ground and my first attempt was a failure as I was unable to pull the blade over the 3" limb I was cutting as it naturally wanted to go over the top of the limb on its side which meant that the blade couldn't fold. Face with the prospect of breaking the blade if I pulled on the rope too hard, I gave up and repackaged the product in preparation to return it but I decided first to check the Amazon reviews to see if others were having this same difficulty with using the saw. I came across someone asking about this very problem but for a competing product on Amazon. Someone replied with a brilliant solution. If you want to guarantee that the saw blade wraps around the tree limb with the teeth facing the limb (or, as per my case, you don't want the blade to get hung up due to its sliding over the limb on its side), simply tie a length of cotton string across the length of the blade that is three or four inches shorter than the blade so that when you pull the saw blade over the limb, the string will keep the blade curved in the direction you want (teeth facing the limb) and then all you need to do is pull sharply on both ropes to break the cotton string, thus leaving the blade in proper contact with the limb, ready for cutting. Ideally, you want a cotton string that can easily be broken once you have the blade in position but if all you have available is a length of nylon or other synthetic string that doesn't break easily, just tie it secure to one end of the chain blade and on the other end connect it using a piece of duct tape so that the tape will fail when you pull hard enough on the ropes.

Fantastic!
This pocket chainsaw is awesome! Rips through medium sized logs quickly and cleanly.I got this for a Scout backpacking trip (wanted to be sure the boys were warm at the end of long day hiking) and it did exactly what I needed it to. I was able to cut enough wood quickly for a rather large fire.I won't say this saw is easy to use . . . because you get quite a workout! There's a reason people put engines on chainsaws. It is, however, very effective for the weight. I found that keeping the chain in a wide "V" shape kept is from binding up (rather than pulling in a "U" shape straight up from the log).I'd recommend this to anyone.
