Caricatures in Motion (Caricature Carvers of America) Paperback – September 14, 2011

If you're a beginner looking for detailed instructions on how to carve caricatures, this may not be your first choice. While the book has some demonstrations, there are not many and there is no project that goes from beginning to end at the level of detail required for a beginner.If you're a collector or if you are carving caricatures, this book is the stuff of imagination indeed!! You'll see "motion" and positions you'd see nowhere else. Good reference for carving a bending knee, raised shoulder, etc. And so many different facial expressions! There's a fantastic writeup on the background of each master carver prior to introduction of his creation. It is filled with ideas on how to add dimension with fences, signs and amazing bases. Love this book!

My wife ordered this book for me from Amazon and I was thrilled. This is certainly one of the better books for this kind of carving. The instructors are excellent, as is the photography. Find a block of wood, a good, sharp knife, and open to Page 1! Phil Topa

This is the third book from the CCA I have purchased. The book is great to show what can be done with caricature carving. It is not an instruction manual that I would recommend, but hard to beat for getting great ideas.

This is an excellant book for the woodcarver. There are several carvers involved with this book and all have different ways of showing movement or motion, in a carving. One carving that could have been left out is Tom Wolfe's, just didn't fit in this book.

Wonderful carving and great photography, but little in the way of useful patterns and devoid of much instruction. The step by step project is a joke as far as instruction.

I found this book to very good, the carvings, photography and patterns, I would highly recommend it as an addition to your Library.

Love this book. Love everything CCA puts out.
