Piano Foot Rest Light-Weight

These serve the purpose of raising my daughter's feet while she is playing the piano, but I wish they had a little more weight to them. The shift around a bit.

Way too light- my kid kicks it over. We have wood floor and it's just not stable. Had to purchase some heavier wooden ones that work.

I bought this foot rest for my 7-year-old son after long time searching.He started to learn playing piano at 5.One issue always bother us is that the piano and the bench are a little beyond his reach. So we bought one adjustable piano bench for him to reach the piano. Another challenge is to find some foot rest for him,. Not a easy work for this because not a lot of piano foot rests available, we tried some wood foot rest first, It worked well, however, scratched the piano sometimes. Then we try this foot rest, very light, scratch free for the piano. Glad we found this.

I'm not a chemist so when the product description stated "polystyrene" as the material, I was expecting a composite plastic similar to a recycled milk crate or other lightweight plastics I have in other products, just based on the application. What it seems to be more like, in my experience, is a compact styrofoam. Lightweight? Very. The box seemed nearly empty by weight. Durable? My instincts tell me no. First, it is painted black. The paint does appear to be a suffient thickness in most areas but a little thinner in others such that it almost has a rubbed look, though it didn't appear to be damaged. Most important about the paint is that it causes the components of the foot rest to slip side-to-side very easily during use. Adding a shelf liner or rug grip between the components crossed my mind but for the price paid, I cannot justify a retrofit. On the up side, the product was packaged very carefully so kudos to the seller for that. Unfortunately I have had to request authorization to return the product because the cost is completely out of line for such a poorly-executed concept.

It's perfect for both my kids who are 2 years apart and different heights! It keeps their feet from sliding all over the place and losing their concentration. It's a god-send!
