Great reference
Hiking the minong. It is a great and detailed reference of what you will encounter in each ~4-8 mile stretch of trail on the island.

Great info for visits by land or sea
I have been to Isle Royal but have been contemplating a more complicated visit where I would need to use water taxi service and this was a great resource.

New Edition of DuFresne's Isle Royale National Park Book is Worth Buying
I have an earlier edition of Jim DuFresne's guidebook to Isle Royale National Park and this one is his best effort yet. It's full color and the photography is outstanding. The maps have been improved greatly and I love the system of QR codes that allows me to download even more detailed maps of the park onto my smartphone. What hasn't changed is his writing style. More than just a guidebook, Jim is like your hiking partner telling you why this island in Lake Superior is such a great place to escape to with a backpack or a canoe.

Great step by step guide.
A step by step – almost exhausted – guide to Isle Royale. Definitive. The maps are great with the downloadable QR codes with each section of the trails. I wish the maps were a little bigger for my weak eyes.

Very prepared
THIMBLEBERRIES!!! I was pleased to read this before hiking greenstone! I was more knowledgeable about foliage, wildlife, water, and trails because of Jim’s contributions.
