Good for writing a large fonts
If you want to write large calligraphy fonts, this is the nib for your. If you write in a journal or letters I would rather use the Lamy 1.1 nib.

Nib is defective
I bought this nib to do calligraphy on envelopes. I have been using the nib that came with it, so I didn't get around to using this one until yesterday, so of course the time to return has passed. It is defective, the ink will not flow through the nib. I tried switching it back and forth with the original but nothing, it just doesn't work. It i necessary to check these nibs before the time expires or you will be stuck with a defective on costing $20.00

What A Nib!!
I really appreciate a number of things about the Lamy Al-Star. One aspect in particular is that you can easily change the nib to one of 6 difference sizes. The range of nibs run from EF, F, M, B 1.5 and even a 1.9 callgraphic one. To switch out nibs is something anyone ( you don't have to be a nib specialist ) can do! I picked the 1.5 because the largest nib I'd used on a Lamy is the medium. Wow, this 1.5 delivers great line variation. I ordered this nib from Resourses for Teaching, London, UK. I am in the United States and my order arrived packaged great and much sooner than I thought. I will make Resourses for Teaching my go to place when I get other size nib for my Al-Star. They have the full range of nibs. I will be trying more sizes.

Great nib for nice line variation!
This 1.5mm stub nib is great on my Lamy pens. Use it with Rohrer and Klinger said, and get great shading and line variation that looks nicer than the 1.1mm nib. If you've never tried a stub nib, this is a great one to try!

Just the right size...for me
I bought this nib to get a more calligraphy style look from the pen. The pen I purchased came with the fine or extra fine nib which just looks like a normal pen width. I was thinking about going bigger but I'm glad I chose the 1.5 mm size. In my opinion this size is small enough that you could use it as an every day pen to spice up your writing. However it is also big enough that you can be tastefully artistic when the mood strikes.

Disappointed me a bit
This particular nib has disappointed me a bit, I bought at the same time a 1.1 nib that writes wonderfully, good variation and fluidity, however, this 1.5 was the opposite, the ink does not seem to flow very well and This particular nib has disappointed me a bit, I bought at the same time a 1.1 nib that writes wonderfully, good variation and fluidity, however, this 1.5 was the opposite, the ink does not seem to flow very well and leaves a fine line that ends up cutting the stroke, I suppose it must be a manufacturing error, it is not what I expected from a Lamy nib.

I have the 1.5 nib as well as the 1.1 and 1.9 versions. The 1.1 is excellent for everyday writing with just a bit of a fancy flair, and the 1.9 offers very, very nice line variation that makes one's writing look truly beautiful, but is maybe a bit too wide for regular note-taking. This 1.5 is a very good compromise: not too think and is suitable for everyday use, and good line variation. If I had to pick only one of the three Lamy stubs, I'd go with the 1.5.

Exchange these nibs with many Lamy pens
I recently bought a Lamy Joy and have quite a few Lamy Safari, Nexx and Al-Star pens but I didn't have this 1.5mm nib to try out in any of them so I decided to go ahead and try one this size. It's a little bit wide to write with but it's still nice to see the variation between the 1.1mm and the 1.5mm nibs. The 1.5mm writes quite wet but can be controlled depending on which ink you use with it.I'm pleased to have almost all of the set of different Lamy Z 50 nibs. (Don't feel the need for the really wide 1.9mm version) It's very easy to swap and change these nibs with many different Lamy pens.

Ideal for writing with lighter coloured inks
I have three LAMY pens (black, blue and orange/copper ink). The orange ink is a bit 'lightweight' compared to the blue and black therefore I tried this wider nib. It has proved to be ideal for this purpose.Note that this is essentially a caligraphy nib therfore you need to make a slight adjustment to your writing style, but it does give you the advantage of controlling the width of each stroke.

Posh writing
If you have a Lamy then try the wider nib, makes handwriting look far more posh.

Lamy Z 50 Nib Set for joy 1.5 Pen (Pack of 5).
Product quality was good, as expected. Disappointed with this supplier though. Only came with one nib, not the 'pack of five' as advertised. I sent them an email pointing out the error but have had no response. Won't use them again.
