Multipurpose Use!
I'm not actually sure what this device is designed or meant to do but I was looking for a device to magnetically hold the paper clips in my home office & this works PERFECTLY! Almost everything has more than 1 use or purpose😁

I like the fact that there is no place for iron ...
The mag base part is well done and the magnet sticks well without being too impossible to remove. I like the fact that there is no place for iron filings to hide and be difficult to clean out. The mounting hole is tapped 8mm x 1mm -- not a particular issue if you are using the supplied plastic indicator back. The hole pattern was right but I found the diameter was about 0.080 in / 2 mm too large ti fit the recess in the back of my Mitutoyo indicator. I made quick work of that but it was a bit annoying. Very good value for the money.Others have wondered if the plastic indicator back would hold up - I'm not too concerned about that -- the threaded part is steel and is well embedded in the plastic. The plastic seems thick and strong enough.

Dial indicator backing magnet
Works and fits good, wish the backing was made out of aluminum

Good
Very strong magnet, holds good but not too strong where you’re still able to easily pick it up off of the surface. The back plate was slightly too large to slip into the back of my Teclock indicator and had to turn it down. As well the bolt pattern was slightly off where the screws wouldn’t line up properly, a little work with a small dremel fixed it, but overall a good product

Great for the lathe
I have two of these, one on a regular dial, and one one a 2” travel dial. Supper handy on the lathe, for both travel and depth of drilling. Just a quick removal of the existing back on the dial and reinstall the screws in a thread on back for the magnetic.

Threads aren't tapped straight
Threads aren't tapped straight so the dial indicator is off at a 5-10 degree angle. Something to keep in mind if you're working to .0001".

Good price
Will be very helpful in my setup

Disappointing
The plastic back that attaches to the dial indicator should be made stronger. The one provided is flimsy and prone to breaking it you pull on the gauge and not the magnet when dismounting.
