Two Years Later
The media could not be loaded. Video: Headlight high beams are connected to this device. Don't mind the other flashy things. If you have any basic knowledge of automotive wiring, installing this is gonna take you 15 minutes. My vehicle is leased so the install took longer as I had a workaround to not cut and splice any wires, but if I was cutting and splicing I'd have done it in half the time.Flash speed is adjustable via a screw on the side of the unit. I have mine mounted inside the engine compartment where it's mostly dry but pretty hot, so it seems to hold up to temperature but I cannot speak to water resistance. It's about twice the size of a bosch standard relay, small enough to mount wherever you need but not so small it's hard to fasten. I used double sided trim tape to avoid drilling holes and it's held up for two years. The flash rate is a little bit uneven but it's an analog thermal relay so it's never going to be perfectly equal. Mine seems to bias to the passenger side and hold that one a bit longer, but it's really only noticeable at slower flash speeds. If this is unacceptable for your needs you need a digital flash controller because analog like this will always be a little uneven. However, the benefit of analog is high current/power tolerance and reliability. Each high beam lamp in my truck is 55 watts, which is way too much for most digital flashers which generally only tolerate a half amp to an amp max. As reliability goes, it's still working after two years. Other than adjusting the flash speed to my preference a few times (not because it needed adjusted, it seems to remain where it's set and not "float" faster or slower) it's been maintenance-free.Overall I'd say I recommend this device no matter why you need alternating lights. It's easy to install and effective, and the adjustable flash rate is also helpful.

Don't forget diodesll
I have installed several of these before in my vehicles these are very good units easy to install and seem to last forever. It's an extremely good product for the money

Effective for high amp outut
This is connected to my high beams and tail lights. While they alternate they do not strobe it is a single flash back and forth. The flash is not completely even as one side stays illuminated for about a half second longer than the other. Not really a big deal as it doesn't really affect the functionality of the device.

override doesn't work
I gave it 3 stars only because my low beams don't function when I turn them on. I can only use them during the day.

blinky
talked my dad through an installation for a DIY train crossing over the phone. Now my nephew's train crossing has wig-wag blinking lights. But i am told there is no instruction or wiring diagram included, just verbal description of the color wire to use.

Awful product...
Terrible product. First it flashes very unevenly, and irregularly. After a day it wouldn't work. Now it just operates the left high beam (on steady, does not flash any more.) Tried everything. I've wired these devices in before without incident in other vehicles so I do have experience. The override wire also did not function which was annoying. This particular one is highly problematic and useless. NOT happy. Don't end up like me... But a better one.
