These are great ham radios. The value is incredible. These radios are built like a tank. they arnt waterproof, but I haven’t had an issue with rain. Can be unlocked easily for transmit on uncertified frequencies but do that at your own risk. You may make the FCC sad. And as always, make sure you have the proper licenses for the frequencies you intend to use and follow FCC guidelines for communicating on those frequencies. Even if unlicensed you can use these to listen in. You can transmit unlicensed only if it is an emergency and your radio is your only means of seeking help.

Great radio but
So yea its a great Lil analog VHF/UHF Amateur Handheld Ham Radio. But I did some research on it and I learned that online others have said that the stock antenna ain't worth a squat. So it is best to invest in an aftermarket Antenna which they are correct I've had the same issue before with a different radio I wasn't able to pickup very many frequencies until I bought an aftermarket Antenna. The second I turned on the radio with the aftermarket Antenna I was picking up all kinds of frequencies. I am working on trying to get my Amateur Radio Operator License so I can use it but I'm gna see if my Local Radio Club might have some spare Antennas for my 2 Radios. Hey these are great radios if your not lookin something a fancy expensive 2way VHF/UHF Handheld Ham radio. It's great for beginners tbh. I'm a bit passed beginner radio guy. I'm jus a bit late cuz wen I was first tryin to get my License it was wen they had you learn Morse Code and now you don't. My goal is to build a huge collection of radios wit huge towers.
