Inexpensive secondary safety beam for my garage door. Dont forget powersupply and extra wire to hook them up
I used these as a second set of safety sensors for my garage door. Don't forget to think about how to power these or all the bell wire you will need to connect them. I left the original set alone, since they are at the height required by code, to prevent you from squishing a little kid or animal, but i mounted these higher up so that if a car wasn't pulled all the way in, the bumper or trunk would break the beam and the door wouldn't come down. (the original set would shoot under the bumper and not notice a car) Since I put a home automation relay on the garage door, it would have been possible otherwise to trigger the door to close remotely without me being able to see if a car was in the way. One side is a transmitter, and one side is a receiver and relay. They relay has either a normally closed (NC) or a normally open (NO) connection, so you can have it either make a connection or break a connection when the beam is interrupted. There is another style that uses a reflector and has both the receiver/transmitter and relay all on the same side, which is easier to wire, but much more expensive to purchase. I cheated on wiring, and even though the original garage door sensors didn't have 12v available (which is what these are rated for 12-24V), it was enough to power the transmitter by hacking into the original lines and I didn't have to run more wires on that side. It was also appeared to be enough to power the receiver, as I could see the indicator light turn off and on when I broke the beam, but not enough to trigger the relay that is built in. I originally thought it was defective, nope, it was fine, I just wasn't following its specs. So I had to use a 12v power supply for the receiver side at a minimum (probably should have for the transmitter, but that was a bunch more wire to run, and I am lazy). Since I was doing a home automation project, I had a Wireless Z-Wave Multi-Input/Output Dry Contact Bridge; Cert ID: ZC08-16040002 Zwave controller/relay as part of that, and I ran the receiver off spliced wires from that devices power supply.

Work GREAT
Worked GREAT. I used these on my front gate as a safety factor. The gates respond if they strike something and re-open, however, I needed them to NOT close (striking an object) if something was in the way (eg. my child on her bike). I placed these sensors about 15' apart (12' swing gate + side clearance). Very sensitive, as I had hoped, unaffected by sunlight (Transmitter pointing at the noon sun, receiver has it's back to the sun). Mighty Mule wanted $74 for their unit, I purchased these sensors, mounted them inside a scrap 2" square section of aluminum fence post and screwed them to the gate fence. Works great, well protected (see picture)

Great deal - Works with old sensors and garage motors
Worked perfect to replace a 20 very old Raynor garage sensor. I only had to use one of the included sensors and it was compatible with my other old sensor that still worked. If it ain't broke don't fix it, right? Industrial strength velcro helped me mount it. Be prepared to improvise on the mounting aspect.

No bracket or instructions on use.
The idea is good product incomplete. there were no directions, no way of attaching them such as a bracket.. good price but would not purchase it again..

Back QA on this Anazing Beam.
I ordered this items which came with a master unit and a slave unit. The slave unit has a 2 set screw terminal block that was installed inside out (backward) that there is impossible to insert the external wire to power it. See picture at the slave unit (bottom unit) with external wires not able to connect. Its an QA issue. Can the vendor please send me the right unit?
