Walkabout Cable Lock

I bought this for an upcoming trip to Europe. I wanted a way to lock our suitcases to each other in the trunk of the rental car. Recently we were on a road trip not far from home and someone broke in to my car and ran off with our luggage. I'm worried about this happening in Europe, particularly in Ireland where they have a reputation for auto break-ins. My idea is to lock all the suitcases to each other. So, if the thief gets the trunk open, he can't just grab a bag or two and run off. This retractable cable looks like it will be perfect for that. It's relatively small, and lighter than I expected. It's not burglar-proof because a thief could cut the cable, or cut through the handles of the suitcases. Theoretically, he could drag all the bags out of there attached to each other. However, the point is just to make the job difficult enough that the thief moves on to the next target instead. I think this will do the job nicely.Like I said, it's lighter and smaller than expected, which is great. And it's very easy to use. Even setting the custom combination was easy. I'm happy with it.

Compared to the "precision works" lock that I bought, the cable on this is 2-3x thicker, which means someone with wire cutters is going to have a harder time (or no success) cutting through it to steal your stuff.The combination wheels are separated from one another, so when you try to open the lock, you're less able to accidentally bump the wheel next to it. I had a heck of a time trying to get all the wheels to keep from moving on the cheap piece o'crap "precision works" lock. Seriously, it shouldn't take 10 minutes to unlock your lock because you can't get the wheels to line up.

First purchased to keep my skis from walking off when I was at resorts. Now use it for my pistol since California requires locking gun when left in a car, even if car is locked. I keep at least one in every vehicle and RV just in case I need to leave something and don't want to have it pinched. A true thief will get past this, but for the casual walk-away, this will keep your stuff safe and the crook moving to the next easier target.

My motorcycle does not have a factory helmet lock. This is the most convenient way to make sure my helmet doesn't fall off or walk away. It is not highly secure but at least it will deter casual theft. I can deploy it very quickly without much fuss.

Wow, easy to set the dials and use compared to others. Purchased two for long overseas trip on train for my 18 inch luggage. Secure and strong. I am happy with this product. the seller shipped quickly.

Flimsy, no security

I bought this to use at Disneyland for my stroller. It's easy to use and I didn't have any problems with it. It was easy to set the code, and the retractable cable always worked perfectly for me. The cable could easily be cut with wire cutters, but it served my purposes well.

Useful for securing your bag to something stationary in your hotel room or in the airport.
