As one just beginning to work with bonsai, I found this volume useful. There is a lot of misleading information on the Internet and it's great to find a reliable source like this.

Since I'm new to bonsai trees I had a difficult time caring for them, but after reading through this book I'm becoming a more confident gardener.

Good beginner read. Gives just the right amount of knowledge in each aspect, with a lot of great extras. History, types, similar takes from other cultures. I did not know that bonsai was derived from a different style which isn't even from Japan.

This is a really great beginners guide. Its very detailed on what you should and shouldn't do, what to look out for, and how to grow a healthy tree. It also goes into detail the history of bonsai and the other forms that inspired it. Such a great and informative book. I definitely recommend reading this book if you want to know more on how to start and continue to grow a bonsai tree.

Not a lot of drawings or pictures included in the sections pertaining to the care and maintenance. Tips about when to prune or how to shape are lacking.

Since my sister and I first saw a bonsai we have fallen in love with it. it seemed incredible to be able to give life to these small trees, so delicate and enchanting.When we decided to buy them too, we were afraid of not being able to make them survive and so I bought this book. I must say that it was really an excellent guide, well supplied in terms of explanations and material, with a series of useful questions at the end to answer the thousand doubts that those who decide to buy a bonsai find themselves.of this linro jo also very much appreciated the first part where their story is told, how they were created and above all how to keep them in the best possible way.I recommend it to anyone who has this desire but is afraid of not being able to take care of it properly.

Given that the book was purchased as a "how to" the book was not what I expected. I was looking for a book that would show how to pictures/diagrams and this is not the case. Written content was OK but not an ideal book for a beginner in Bonsai growing/pruning
