Wonderful product. Better than regular Heli coils for plug threads
I stripped the threads on my Kawasaki plug and called around to see what it would take. Most mechanics charged a lot for putting in heli coils or other inserts. When I found this system I didn't trust it because it doesn't have a lot of reputation on the internet or from local mechanics. BUT it was so cheap I went for it anyway. The system is very well made and the concept is much better than other products that have you drill out the threads. The Sav-A-Thread popped in and held tight right away and still goes strong. I almost tore out my other plug threads just so I could put this in that side as well. I posted detailed pictures on a bike forum and people were impressed with the ease and quality of the final product. Great item. Check here for my instructions on use: [...]

So far so good
I read installation description and helpful comments. I even asked the local motorcycle shop to do it for me. They declined :-( I knew that there is no going back if you mess this up. I took my time double checking every step. For whatever reason, last step that taps the sleeve into the hole didn't work. So the sleeve spins. However, it is working fine. I put couple hundred miles and no problems. I am just afraid of that spinning that it will come loose. The only reason for 4 stars is the spinning of the sleeve.

After my first spark plug blew out I bought (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002SRF4O/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_11) worked great with head on truck except, it seems like the insert backs out when you go to change plugs again. Bought these to keep on hand, and has saved me on the side of the road twice now(when two other plugs blew out.) So far the inserts have not blown out and only backed out when I changed the plug.(just replaced with a new one and worked fine) So far have went over 60,000 miles on the first one with no problems.

I used these on a 1971 V.W. Bus 1600 dual portthat had stripped out the #1 spark plug hole butdecided to do all four cylinders since I had to pullthe engine for other reasons anyway. These could be tricky to use with many engines when the engine isin the installed position but overall they can be life savers!Get the correct tap set to go with the inserts you need foryour engine and you can save yourself BIG $$$$$$$$$!Believe it!

Had a sparkplug come out of its thread on my 2001 Ford Crown Vic, bought a re-thread kit then used this helicoil repair kit. Works flawlessly, been 6 months now and no problems. Make sure you use torque wrench to properly adjust sparkplug back in.
