Lamy Safari | Red | Fine Nib | 5 Black Ink Cartridges, Z28 Converter and Wipe

Overall, this pen has good weight and is easy to write out of the box. I had no problem filling the converter with ink and inserting it into the pen. Though it is plastic, it has a pretty sturdy feel and does not feel cheap.My only con is that the ink flow is heavy out of the nib, even though it is a fine point nib. You have to be careful on some paper. Even trying to adjust the nib to reduce the ink flow did not resolve this issue. To me, this is not a reason to deduct a star - it is more of a good-to-know so you can be mindful when writing with this instrument.

I love this pen. I use it for drawing and it lays down a nice consistent line. The contoured grip area feels good in the hand. Nice weight and the ink window is a nice feature.

I bought this Lamy Safari | Red | Fine Nib to fill the need for a more rugged, light weight, easy to carry fountain pen to accompany my daily carry note pad. The Safari fits this need perfectly. The fine nib writes smoothly with J. Herbin ( Perle Noire "black") ink and is a great paring. The Safari is well balanced, posting of the cap is solid and it writes great unposted as well. This is a everyday carry, beat it to death with use fountain pen, not a closet queen you pamper and are terrified to hand to someone for a quick signature in mortal fear it will be dropped or nib splayed out by gorilla hands. I've used this little work horse of pens for several days now and grown fonder of it each time it bounces across a counter or suffers at the hands of others use. If you need a work horse instead of a show horse, you may find the Safari fits that bill nicely. Buy this thing.

Feels a bit light for my preference due to the plastic. It writes really well, however.

The pen has been great. I am using this as my everyday pen, which I carry around everywhere. I especially like the pen clip, which allows it to be secure on a pocket of dress or jean pants. The only issue that I had was that the ink within the pen was blue, although the refills were black. It is not a major issue, but you should be aware before you start using.

Package was crushed…..no refill canister, only 4 of 5 cartridges in the box…..definitely not the pack that was advertised or paid for!!!

I love the pen, but the cost is a little bit steep.
