Cost-effective replacement for an incandescent pool light
We recently had our pool renovated, including a new pebbled finish. When we asked about getting an LED pool light to replace the existing incandescent bulb, we were quoted over $900 from more than one contractor. Realizing that there had to be a retrofit option, I turned to Amazon and researched a bit while my pool was empty. Here, I stumbled upon this bulb and found the correct gasket for my old 'American Products' fixture. Though the fixture is quite old, everything but the gasket appeared to be in good shape and the old bulb worked just fine. Installing this bulb was a snap, though I did watch several different YouTube videos as well as reviewed the included instructions. The thing to remember is that the fixture must be water tight, otherwise it could be an electrocution hazard. Bucket test the fixture before you reinstall it in the alcove! If it's water tight, there should be no bubbles coming up from the fixture. I would also recommend using a non-contact voltage tester to ensure that the fixture is completely safe before jumping into the pool. That said, this bulb is quite impressive. Though the series of switches on-and-off to control the mode is hard to get the hang of, it is effective and the output is stunning. Even though my new pool finish is pigmented blue, most all of the colors are vibrant and distinctive. Even if you're buying this bulb solely for the energy savings and/or longevity that LED provides, this bulb delivers -- in pure white mode, it's at least as bright as the incandescent it replaces. This bulb is money well-spent and so far, I'm glad I bought it.

Very Cool
The media could not be loaded. We ordered this LED bulb to replace our pool light that went out last month. We installed it today and we are very impressed with the quality of it. Our kids think it’s “Super Cool!”I haven’t had time to mess with the programming of colors, right now it just cycles through which is pretty cool too.Praying it lasts a while and doesn’t burn out very fast.So far we are happy with the quality of this LED bulb. Now we may need to replace our hot tub light with an LED bulb too.

Great for warmer climates!
Some of the competitive products use the overheating protection of reducing wattage (dimming your light) at 85 degrees. In Dallas / Fort Worth, that is unacceptable, as my pool temp often exceeds 85 degrees F. in the summer. This light has a small efficient fan to avoid overheating. I also love that I can figure out a setting I like, and the memory function will resume the same setting each time I turn it on. I am a fan of the blue light, and use it 95% of the time. It is way easier to have it remember my setting than to use a remote that only works from a few feet away. If you buy this light, be sure to buy a brand new gasket, and clean the surfaces the gasket comes in contact with to insure a watertight seal. I used theImpresa Products 2-Pack Pentair-Compatible gasket, but whatever gasket you choose, it is worth starting with a fresh gasket to protect your light from leakage. The last time I replaced my light I did not change the gasket, and a couple of years later it started leaking due to a clearly degraded gasket. Chlorine is good for killing bacteria, but hard on gaskets!

Best After-market color LED pool light out of the bunch
This one (Lampaous) seems to be head and shoulders above the other after-market color led pool lights which are all made in china. Chinese companies certainly have differing levels of quality control and this seems to be one of the better ones out there with well written instructions (relatively, compared to others in the space).I would say that this company has a good product designed for longevity, the bulb is hefty with the LED electronics and cooling fan all integrated into the bulb. Since it is in an enclosed and sealed space, you really want it to do a good job of keeping the LEDs from overheating (thus the need for a fan), which can seriously degrade their service life and performance. This has the ability to switch simply by using an on/off timing mechanism, which actually works far better than expected. I did opt for the version with the remote control with the relay box and it did work very well in terms of even easier switching of light modes and choosing colors, BUT the relay box is quite large and you'll need enough room in a weatherproof junction box to install it. The remote control/relay box is not needed however if you simply want to utilize the on/off timing mechanism to allow for color mode switching (both methods work well, the remote control/relay box is just more convenient).Of note, if you opt for the remote control/relay box, then you should have enough room in the junction box and have decent knowledge regarding electrical safety and electrical wiring principles and mechanics. The relay box dimensions are roughly 3.5" x 2.5" x 1.25"A side note:I would AVOID the wyzm light that has been rebranded by many companies.
