I love it, for the price I can't imagine anything better. Yes under close examination there are some imperfections in the grinds, the gimping and engraving / laser etching but when it comes down to shaving and sharpening it gets the job done very well. I would definitely buy this again after using it many times now. I actually had a full beard the first time I used this, bought this because I was planning on shaving it off. I didn't use clippers or anything, just dove right in with this bad boy and it didn't flinch. The hair was literally popping off my skin with a very satisfying snap as I moved through the beard, got baby butt smooth in minutes. Had I went clipper and traditional razor route it would have taken double or triple the time. Thats what sold me, I love straight razor shaving now because of this quality product. The blade is well made, good quality, damn sharp and easily kept sharp with mild stropping that last an entire shave or more. The scales are a beefy wood that give a solid no slip grip, much better than others I have used and seen in this price point which are typically thin slippery plastic crap. Bottom line, if your ready to start straight razor shaving but not ready to spend a lot of money until you know what to expect, I can't think of better place to start. Cheaper products wont do the job and more expensive ones are a waste of money. Gold Dollar has nailed the sweet spot for me and earned a loyal customer for life.

Great beginner shaver (if you get the correct one).
I want to preface this by saying that I am new to straight razor shaving, but not to sharpening blades.I received the correct item as pictured and indeed the blade was VERY sharp and reasonably able to shave with, though it could have been sharper. I was able to shave successfully, only getting a small nik on a white-head I had not noticed. As you'd imagine, it takes some getting used to manoeuvring the blade into a proper position for the shaving of a non-flat and squishy surface that has inconvenient angles that must be shaved. Being ambidextrous can help a lot. After the primary shave, I took the edge of the blade to a brick and dulled it to a point that would not cut my skin when dragged across the tip of my finger in a slicing motion. I was even able to press into the blade on a pull cut and not receive a cut, it was definitely dulled. After dulling, I was able to take the blade back to a razer sharp condition that exceeded the sharpness it was delivered at.I took this and shaved with it and after a few strokes I noticed a line of blood on my cheek from the end of a stroke that had cut me without my noticing. It was only about an inch long and healed in about a week. All in all, this is a very nice blade for the value and can be sharpened well by a skilled sharpener.

Honed?
Was not properly honed, must hone myself in order to be shave ready. But for the cost shouldn’t have expected to really be shave ready.

Updated review: garbage steel not ready use
That’s a bleeder of a nick in the blade to come straight out of the box with...Will take me at least 30mins to take the nick out.If you don’t know how to sharpen a straight razor well i would recommend you spend a few more dollars.Update: Confirmed nick goes almost to bevel. Serious flaw in blade.Calling this razor unusable as looking at a few hours to fix a $20 razor. Not worth it.Follow up: spent an hour removing nick from blade. Took a lot steel off. Shaved one time. Dried it like all other razors. See pic: rusted overnight.Would not just not recommend. Would say do jot but the junk.

May need a bevel set and finish honing
I believe they should be sold as near to shave ready straight razors, fit and finish was better than expected for the price, for a razor that’s under $30.00 I shouldn’t expect perfect it just needs some fine tuning and some little touches for personalization, after killing the edge and going through all of the paces of a bevel set and the transition from a 1000 sharpening stone to a 3k then to a 5 then to my finishing slate stone it’s popping hairs like a high dollar razor. It’s definitely a good candidate if your just getting into straight razor honing, or getting back into it as I am, you don’t have to worry about buggering up an expensive razor, great one to learn the craft on

No geometry issues but not shave ready.
I liked the quality for the price I paid. I honed it and have shaved twice and it did well. This must be some poor stainless though because even drying it off after using, I still got a rust spot. A rust eraser took care of that in about three seconds though. I can't say for sure, but I can see myself doing a lot of stropping, this has to be very poor steel. But it's $20 and gets you into straight razor shaving. It's very functional, just not great quality. You'll definitely need a few stones, a strop and some compounds though, you can't get away with just a strop. IMO, it needs to be sharpened from bevel set to finishing on at least an 8k, and a strop with compound, and one without. Unless you want to keep sending it out.not bad for $20

Item different than pictured
Sent different style razor than shown. Looking at reviews of the company, this is common. I received a W59, with a spike point. I wanted a rounded point. 2 stars because the razor was what I expected in every other aspect. A fair amount of work and I can shave with it.

Great Price for a cheap 6/8" razor, needs proper honing to use.
Got this for $20, which is a good price for a Gold Dollar razor. Came as expected with ready-to-hone blade and oversized scales. For the price, I think its great. Compared to my other razors, it definitely feels cheap. But as this was what I wanted it for (learning to hone) this worked great. After working on it, blade sharpens perfectly and shaves great. This blade also has the stabilizer removed which helped with honing. I also liked the case for storage. I believe i got the one that was pictured at the time, but i really don't care what etching is on the blade.
