... came to my notice in the 80's with the amazing power ballad Alone
As a confirmed Heavy Metal fan Heart came to my notice in the 80's with the amazing power ballad Alone. I often said to friends that the night I saw that video on MTV was the very night I fell in love with two sisters in the space of 3 and a half minutes. However I digress. This compilation is awesome. Alot of the early material I was unfamiliar with apart from the classis Barracuda of course. My personal faves on the 2 cds are Crazy On you (an early track), Barracuda, Even It Up, the amazing live version of Zeps Rock And Roll, How Can I Refuse, the 80's rockers What About Love, Never, These Dreams, If Looks Could Kill (very addictive trackj), the ever awesome Alone, Who Will You Run To, the ass kicking Wild Child and Black On Black II (this one really caught me off guard in a good way). A terrific collection from Ann and Nancy and the other band members over the years. Ann Wilson has one of the best voices ever and sister Nancy proves she can outplay any guy at any particular instrument she lays hands on. I do hope you continue to roll out an album or two more ladies as a world with out the gorgeous Wilson girls is a very dull place indeed!!! A big kiss to you both from an English Metalhead.....

Heartfelt not heartless
As the man said, unless you have all their original albums in which case you wouldn't want this anyway, this is the only Heart album you need. And what an album it is. 2-CDs packed to the gills: 37 tracks with a running time around 156 minutes -you'd have a job squeezing another track on it- and truly the best, the essential Heart. If there's anything left off others might claim to be essential, then I've never heard it. A mix of memorable anthemic rockers, ballads, and general AOR tunes sung by the brass-lunged Ann Wilson, backed very ably by her musician and singer sister Nancy and generally good backup musicians. When Ann bawls out, "If looks could kill/ You'd be on the floor-ah", you don't doubt it for a minute, her voice alone would probably be enough to send anyone flying. All the hits are here, along with the best of the rest, and spanning 19 years so many I don't have time to list all of the great tunes. If I had to pick a top 5, I couldn't. Even with a limit of 10 I couldn't fit in all the tracks I love, and the rest are all pretty good.Bold, brassy, electric guitar and voice-driven rock, this set is on fire.

exactly what you would expect
This is a good collection of their biggest and most famous hits, so what I wanted. No surprises and the quality of the recordings is perfectly good. Enjoyable overall and good to have them in one place. Also saves on the vinyl...

A bit more cuddly than back in the day but when they started to play they were just as brilliant as ever
When Heart were first big I was still slim, had hair, didn't need glasses etc. I heard a track on the radio a few months back and I wondered what became of Heart? A quick search on YouTube found Heart playing "Stairway to Heaven" to Led Zepplin at the Kennedy Center Honors. I was blown away! A bit more cuddly than back in the day but when they started to play they were just as brilliant as ever. Two videos later I was looking for a "Best of" album ...my old LP's and turntable gathering dust in the garage. A few reviewers have commented on omissions (?) but few "best of" albums have everyone's best track. For the price you'd get about 5 MP3's now. If after the first four tracks you don't think you've got your moneys worth you obviously aren't a Heart fan? Thoroughly recommended.

It's like old times
My association with Heart goes back to the 70's whilst living in Canada, so it shows how old I am. Had their first five odd albums on Vynil so I suppose I must be a bit of a pioneer. This compilation is absolutely superb and for anyone wishing to try Heart you could go no further. The 37 songs on this double album not only covers most of their best work but is beautifully reproduced and is excellent value. Sadly my vynils have long gone due to lack of space brought on by advancing years but this more than makes up for the loss.
