Inspiring & well worth it!
I bought this book many years ago when I was first learning about exotic plants, and now a few years later I'm totally obsessed. This book is pretty much the bible for anything exotic and tropical - you can find anything to suit your garden / patio or whatever you need. It's all laid out nice and simply, and easy to understand for novice gardeners like me. I'd recommend this book regardless of how much you know on exotics plants and above all the photographs are excellent, it's SO nice to see an encyclopedia that is so visually awesome. Nice work Mr Giles!

A hugely useful guide to exotic plants that survive in intemperate climates
A hugely useful guide to exotic plants that survive in intemperate climates, whether alone or with a little help. Will Giles' advice is that there is no right or wrong way to develop an exotic garden or border, just see what works for you and your garden. In this book, there are enough options to keep you going for many years, especially if you are lucky enough to have a greenhouse for overwintering the more tender plants. I could have done with a note on spread to help with planting distances, but again, it will probably come down to how the plants do on my watch!

the best book on exotic plants
At long last the world of exotic/architectural plants has a bible - and this is it. Will Giles's latest book covers a large cross section of plants, including trees, shrubs, herbacous plants and an entertaining section entitled "houseplants outdoors". Giles also includes plants which are valuable for their asthetic qualities but are far from exotic - some even native to the UK. Each plant has a fairly detailed entry detailing growing procedure and preferred climatic conditions, most also having a photograph. The author grows many of these plants in his own garden, so there's a great deal of first hand experience in the text. To round it off there's also a useful listing of suppliers and websites.

brilliant
A well put together book, I have found many new plants to add to my already extensive collection. Thats how good it is, lots of good images to give you an idea of what the plants look like in situ. This is the second on Will Giles books I have and both are superb
