Big IImprovement Over The Previous Model
I'd say 4.5 stars. Not 5 stars. If you are familiar with the ScanGuage II, this displays more info. It is worth the money to upgrade. I have been a fan of my ScanGuage II for years. I bought it many years back, when taking a trip out west through the mountains pulling a camping trailer. I wanted to monitor my transmission temperature. Over the years, I have used it to pull check engine light DTC codes and fix things. This new one has different screen displays for the info depending on what you are wanting it to display. It can dispaly more guages on the screen. The ScanGuage II gives you the fault code. You had to look up what it was. This gives what the code means, no need to look up.Other improvements.Color display. The ability to track your day's driving, not just from the last time the engine was turned on.X guages are easier. It is a bit larger than the II. Not bad, smaller than the old GPS's.Overall I like it. I would buy again. So why 4.5 stars?Getting at, and clearing the codes, is a little harder than the older II. Not bad. It seems as if I have to take an extra step. The old ScanGuage II, had plugs for the cable on the back and the side. This only has the back plug. So you can't mount it flat on the dash. The communication cable has strain relief on it. I like that, but it makess it stick out pretty far behind the guage. It makes the cable a little difficult to string when doing a permanent mount.I fixed this by getting set of very short M/F - RJ45 extension cables with built in 90s on the male end. The set of cables have one in each 90 degeee direction. They sell a set of M/F 90 degree adapter fittings too. These work, but stick out a shade more than the extension cables, maybe a quarter inch or so more. There have been no issues communicating with either type adapter.ScanGuage, if you are checking reviews for suggestions, please bring back a side or bottom input plug.Consider a software update customers could download that would allow you to set the orentation of the screens so the guage could be mounted portrait or landscape.Consider including a RJ45 90 degee adapter. They make one that swivels 360 degrees so you can set it in the direction you want the cable to go.

Awesome product!
Scan gauge has nailed it! Not only can I see critical pressures and temperatures in my 2012 MINI Cooper S, but you can also set warnings. For example. You can set up the Scan Gauge to warn you if your voltage or oil pressure drops too low, or if your coolant temperature gets too high. For more advance users, you can see other engine operating parameters like fuel trim, inlet air temp, boost pressure, but keep in mind, it can only display what is available via the vehicles OBDII port.Scan Gauge technical support is top notch, and if there's every a problem, the are quick to offer a full refund.

Worth it!
Installation is super easy, just 10 minutes and it’s all set to go. GUI interaction is simply and easy to switch between 3 preset screens but I would prefer if the button is slightly larger. Build quality is solid and the mount is sturdy even during bumpy ride! Even though the price is slightly on the high side but it’s all worth it!

Decent
Works decent, seems like it was made kinda cheap for a $300 item but gets the job done.

Worth the money
Wanted to see oil and coolant temp for my 2014 sprinter, this accomplished that and so much more. Well worth the money imo. Super easy setup. The display isn’t huge, but you can clearly see all the displayed info when installed on the dash.

VERY cool real-time vehicle performance device.
Very cool device... allows real-time monitoring of MANY vehicle performance parameters, far beyond those available on even the most sophisticated dashboard instruments. I can monitor output horsepower real time... for my Ford Ranger, it shows about 80 to 100 hp to get up to speed on a highway on ramp.... cruising hp is 25 or so on a typical road at 45 mph. Also have it showing coolant temp, cat temp, manifold temp, etc. Excellent device for monitoring trends and maybe even spotting problems before they become a major issue.

Missing engine temperature icon
Like the sz and the customer service was great with the exception that the one service rep lied to me concerning the problem that I encountered.I have a 2003 7.3 diesel engine. The temperature gauge was malfunctioning. This unit was far cheaper than I was being quoted to replace the dash gauge. I received the unit, installation was straightforward. But could not find the engine temperature icon. Called support and they returned my call within an hr. The rep. Told me how to locate the engine temperature icon that I was looking for. Went back to my truck , fallowed his instructions but no icon. I called back and this time my call was answered right away. The rep told me that the icon I was looking for was not available for my motor . That problem that I was experiencing was common with my motor so that the unit I had bought didn’t include the engine temperature icon. I called ford an asked if they had a problem with the engine temperature gauge on my year model and was told that there was no known issues. I left several messages with the help line but never received a response. With the exception of the missing icon for engine temperature, the unit works as expected.
