Aival LED Light Reading Magnifying GlassI was surprised by how well made this magnifying glass is when it arrived. This is supplied in a strong frustration free box along with a small slip of paper describing the magnifying glasses functions.The magnifying glass is made from thick ABS plastic, it is black and white in colour which gives it a stylish appearance. There are no sharp edges at all that I could detect, in fact it appears to be very well made indeed. The glass does feel as if it is actually real glass and not clear plastic as some others appear to be. This has two magnifying glasses built in, the large glass is 3X magnification which is ideal for general use. Within the handle is another much smaller glass which is a very powerful 10X magnification, there are three LEDs built around this smaller glass which illuminates the area perfectly. There is a small easy to click button on top of the handle to activate the LEDs.The magnifying glass is powered by three AAA batteries which are easy to insert, they are also easy to remove as there is a soft ribbon fixed inside the battery compartment to help pop the batteries out. It is claimed the batteries will give a long life, I suspect by looking at the three LEDs that this will probably be the case as for every day use the LED light will not be needed.In use I find the magnifying glass is comfortable in the hand, it's a little heavy due to it having real glass, but it's well balanced and shouldn't cause a problem. The image through the glass is crisp and clear once in focus, it seems that the LEDs are essential when using the smaller 10X magnification glass, again once in focus the image is clear. Handle seems a little short, especially when using the small magnifier; lights could be a bit brighter; no batteries included, but adequate for the price.

The quality of the glass was quite surprising, giving a clear image with little distortion and no obvious ‘fringing’ or chromatic aberration. The glass is housed in a plastic surround which, although quite basic, feels good in the hand and appears robust.There are 10 LED lights evenly spaced on the underside, surrounding the glass. This provides a bright, but soft, light and makes reading the text that much easier. They’re bright enough that they even enhance reading when using the glass indoors during the day. The lights are powered by 2 AA batteries housed in the handle and operated with a large and easy to use switch – it’s clearly been designed so that the switch can be used even if your hands aren’t too dexterous.Although I bought this for a friend I’ve had an opportunity to use it and have been really surprised at how well made it is, with such a clear image, that I wonder how they manage to do it for the price. A good way to combat the issue of getting older and struggling with ever smaller and finer text.Modern labels seem to be using smaller and finer text to allow them to fit numerous different languages onto one label. The downside of this is that it becomes near impossible to read. Before having this magnifying glass, I used to take a macro photo of the text on my smartphone, then zoom in to be able to see it properly. This solves that problem and does away with the need for a camera. It is equally as good for doing fine work like fitting new spectacle screws, repairing electronics, etc.The upsides are good, even, illumination of the item/text. The downside is that it is quite heavy and could be an issue if using it for long periods of time. It would be useful to have some form of foot or stand that allows you to use it hands free for longer periods.It uses 2 AA size batteries to power the LED illumination - not sure how long they'll last but I will be keeping an eye on that. In good lighting, the illumination isn't needed, helping the batteries to last longer.

Old-fashioned idea, but carried out well. The lens is clear and well-produced, and the LED lights illuminates brightly. I managed to read all the little numbers on a RAM card I had lying around, no problem. Minor error in instructions - takes 2 AAs, not 2 AAAs. I probably wouldn't use it for general reading because of the weight, but it's great for looking at small details. It would probably break if dropped onto a hard floor, but it would be fine if you accidentally sat on it. Excellent value.

I've been looking for a magnifying glass for sometime, preferably with a built in light. This has fitted the bill perfectly. It's very well made with a strong plastic surroud housing a good sized glass lens. There is also a smaller lens at the top of the handle that magnifies to a higher level. The view through the lens is really clear and the LED lights help given a even clearer view.Very pleased.

Not a nice magnifying glass - it just didn't feel comfortable for the eyes

It seems OK. Not convinces it is a true 10x magnification, but is certainly more than 5x comparing with another 5x magnifying glass that I have. I have given it 3 stars because they describe the lens as 75mm but the viewable diameter is only 67mm

Tenia muchas ganas de tener una buena lupa con luz para ver un montón de detalles. La grande se ve genial con un aumento impresionante y ya con la luz se sale y la pequeña es para letras super pequeñas. Un buen compañero de viaje
