Inspirational and so enjoyable
I’m reading Sara Barnes The Cold Fix at the moment and there are times when it feels like getting into a sub zero tub (In a good way)! Sara’s honest account and vulnerability shines through. She conveys that suspension of thought, the moments of just being ourselves and in our body so well, and takes those of us not able to be quite as adventurous as she is into the crazy tumble of surrendering to and trusting nature at its most wonderful and extreme. For many of us the cold fix, the sub zero breaking the ice fix, in our local swim spot and/or our tub is the closest we may get to embracing our raw connection with nature, of being in our bodies, and of being fully alive. It defies the frozen fight flight freeze or fawn that chronic illness, injury or anxiety has kept us in. The freeze unfreezes us and reminds us to breathe. It is an adventure all of its own and this book encapsulates it perfectly.

Yes!
Sara Barnes unknowingly reached out to me when I was having a confidence crisis, to jump or not into lake Windermere. I have learned so much from this book it’s hard to explain the knowledge I’ve gained. The insights I now have. To read a book and to find yourself nodding and agreeing with so much is a rare thing.A fantastic read for all cold water enthusiasts.
