Spendy but worth it
I purchased these socks for my son to wear at his outdoor job. He loves them and says they are comfortable and keep his feet warm.

Lasted almost 4 years and still in usable condition
I bought my first pair of these in December of 2018, and have used them every winter multiple times a week when walking the dog. We always go for 2 walks a day, usually between 4-5 miles combined. Temperatures here go down to the negatives in the winter, but it's more common to see around 20-30 degree weather in the winter. One of the socks developed a hole on the heel, but they are still usable (to me at least). I don't even use boots, I just use some Rockports (Rockport Men's Get Your Kicks Mudguard Blucher Oxford). My feet never feel cold at all, however I recently bought a second pair and I feel like they aren't as warm as the first pair. They aren't terrible and my feet aren't freezing, but definitely not as toasty warm. Maybe they changed the materials. If I was standing still for hours at a time like another reviewer mentioned, then it might be a problem, but if you're walking in cold weather you should be fine.

Great Boot Socks for Railroaders-- Spring/Autumn Weather 17% Wool
I buy these for my husband. He's a Railroad Freight Conductor and requires a good, and long-lasting (durable), sock.________________________________________________________WEATHERThey are excellent for Spring and Autumn weather only. With only 17% Wool, they keep the chill off one's feet, but will not keep that 'cold-to-the-bone' at bay. For that, you need to get the Carhartt 'Arctic' socks, (37% Wool)*** (See 'EDIT' below).________________________________________________________LENGTH & DURABILITYThey are 'Boot Length', (which means 'just-over-the-calf'), Wear well, and Wash well. No pilling. And, being just-over-the-calf, they stay up... which is good news for boot wearers.________________________________________________________SIZINGThe Sizing was a bit of a problem. My husband wears a 10 1/2 boot, so, you would think he'd take the large-size sock that supposedly fits a 10-12 shoe. Wrong. We found that the socks were too tight both in the feet and in the calf, and sent them back in exchange for the Extra-Large, (fitting shoe size 12-15), and those fit him perfectly. No tightness whatsoever... just a very nice fit that gives good support as well.________________________________________________________THE 'FEEL'They have no Toe-seams, are totally Re-inforced, and are so Soft & Cushy in the Toe and Heel. He says he even feels support in his Arch... a good thing for a man who is setting out cars and walking those tracks at all hours of the day and night.________________________________________________________SUMMARYMy husband is very pleased with these socks, and so am I. It seemed to take forever to find the right kind of sock for him-- Weather-wise, Fit-wise, and Quality-wise; but after many trials and errors, we finally found his 'holy grail' of Spring/Autumn-weather work socks.Go get 'em... you'll be glad you did.***EDIT: DECEMBER 8-2011: I just found these other Carhartt socks, 'Carhartt Men's Artic Wool Heavy Boot Socks'. With 87% Wool, my husband says these are the bomb for Winter Weather, far exceeding the 37% Wool of the 'Carhartt Extremes Wool Arctic Boot Sock' I mentioned above. Take as look... Works Great as Winter Socks but with some Fuzz
So it's getting chilly again, and this year I decided that I am not going to suffer from frozen feet from normal socks. Upon some research and browsing around, I decided on these Carhartt Men's Extremes Cold Weather Boot Sock based on number of reviews, overall positive reviews, and price.Do these work for keeping my feet warm?Yes, they are nice and thick and work much better than normal socks. How is the fit?If you follow the sizing chart, you should have no problem. They also have elastic banding from the ankle to the top so there is minimal sagging. What are the problems?Although the material will keep your feet warm, it gets a little fuzzy at the bottom where the socks make contact with the ground. As a result, fine particles like dust, little pieces of paper, and hair will get stuck on the socks. This is to be expected from any socks, but be aware that this effect is much more apparent these socks. Conclusion:These socks fit well and serve their intended purpose. However with the caveat of it becoming a bit fuzzy and the okay price, it would be worth your time and money to look around to make sure these socks are the best buy for you. If you are in a hurry, these socks shouldn't disappoint too much.Pros:They workCons:The material can get fuzzy which attracts some fine particles like hair, dust, pieces of paper, etc.

Description of socks are wrong. Not 100% wool only 15%
The description on the site said 100% and when we got them they had only 15% wool. I had to send them back because my husband likes.

I never thought my feet would be sweating in the middle of winter...
Granted, I don't live in Antarctica, but in our modest climate zone in the Sierra foothills these socks are keeping my feet quite comfortably warm. My housemate (and landlord, unfortunately) likes to not use the central heating system during the winter, which means my room is usually 60F, which to a skinny sucker like me who gets cold easily, makes my feet get numb with cold. Now with these socks my feet are actually sweating, and I'm not wearing any shoes with them typically. When I go outside, my feet are warm as can be (and we do get snow here). The only slight negative might be they are really thick, and I can barely get my shoes on with them on. So these would probably best work with shoes that are slightly oversized and definitely won't work with shoes that are normally tight fitting.

Too short for boots
Hubby wanted to work but they are too short for comfort with his pull on boots, would probably be fine for shorter boots

Nice
I'm not sure how warm and durable these socks will be as I have purchased them in May so it will be several months before I wear them but they feel nice and fit so much better than previously purchased Carhartt socks of the same size (medium) that are huge by comparison and I only wear them with wellingtons because of the size. I have purchased 3 pairs of these socks which I fully hope and expect to last me through next winter and beyond and I will be so disappointed if they don't because as socks go they are certainly not cheap

Calientitas!
Seguí las recomendaciones de usar estas calcetas sobre unas normales y encima mis botas para la nieve y la verdad es que excelente, sí sirven. Son cómodas y suavecitas. Estuve en clima de -18ºC y nunca tuve frío en los pies.
