I recommend this as an age appropriate book to give to a very young child dealing with loss.

We have read this so many times we can all recite it from memory. It's a fun reminder and as the characters in it are named "Small" and "Large" it is perfect for any gender combination or family composition.It's my favorite one to give as a gift as well.

My 3.5yr old loves this book. It’s clever with great illustrations and sends a really nice message about unconditional love.

This is the AMERICAN version of the book and is NOT about death. If you’re looking to get the version about dealing with death/loss, make sure you get the original version.Instead, it is about loving people through thick and thin as well as being reassuring that love stays with you no matter how far away you are from someone.I bought this as a gift for my friend and his child. I still have my original book from childhood (I even have a tattoo with themes from the book).It is a beautiful book and great for kids who might be dealing with being long distance from their loved ones.“Look up at the starts, they’re far far away but their light reaches us at the end of each day. It’s like this with love, we may be close we may be far, but our love still surrounds us wherever we are”

What a wonderful story! I ended up buying copies too give as gifts for my friends with young kids.

Great book. My two-year-old really likes it, and I think we both appreciate the message that parents still love their children even when the child is in a foul mood. There is a great deal of tenderness and humor in the illustrations. I also like that the child and parent in the book aren't gendered or identified beyond "Small" and "Large," so any child can fill in any parental figure.

È il nostro libro preferito, lo avevamo già nella versione italiana e ho deciso di acquistarlo anche in inglese per leggerlo a mio figlio di 6 anni. Un ottimo modo per aiutare i bambini a familiarizzare con l'inglese in età prescolare.
