Works great, also this LED version is a little bit brighter than the old bulb.

I was worried from some of the prior review.... but its 2-3 brighter than the original. Took me a couple of trial and error trys to get the old light bulb out but simple once you figure it out.

One of the two 'bulbs' in the box was dead on arrival (DOA). I expected better of a solid-state device. For the price I expected these items to be thoroughly tested and ready for long use. The result was somewhat disappointing.

I have a 13 year old 3 D cell maglite, and also a new 2 D cell led maglite, in the pic new 2 cell mag is on the right, the upgraded old mag is on the left. First off installing this was a pain, bulb did not fit into O ring by about a mm, so I had to drill it out to make it work, not cool. Brightness I would say is about 75% of the new mag, so not bad. Overall I will give it 3 stars as it is an upgrade over incandescent, but pain in the rear on The install, but worth the price for 2.

Any where a MAG light bulb goes this will replace it. Upgraded my old head lamp and an old MAG flash light. They consume less power and are brighter. Batteries last much longer. Just make sure u purchase correct voltage. my head lamp and mag light used two 1.5 V batteries, hence 3W 3 V bulbs. I left my original comments below... just to show that sometimes even I can swim in the river of "What, me worry?"After "PROVING BEYOND A DOUBT" that the second bulb was also defective, it kept bugging me... so I started over... went to Maglite's website, checked out the spec's for my flash, then jumped back onto Amazon, and looked at bulbs again. Lo and Behold, I screwed the pooch, I reread the suppliers description, I BOUGHT THE WRONG BULB.My apologies to the Seller, I have upped the rating.I consider myself a fairly competent shade tree, removing a bulb from a flashlight, replacing it is a no brainer.And so it was.... twice. First bulb just blipped on once or twice... then nada, thought what the heck, got a replacement...same thing.Now, before figuring that I am just another nitwit... original bulb (incandescent) is good, both times, removed the LED bulb, reinstalled my original... it works. Remove the original, install the LED... couple of quick blips... nada. Compared lengths of the bulb body... both identical.I am not going to spend the time and energy to send the second one back...8 bucks is not worth anything more than this missive

The purpose was to upgrade an older Maglite, large, heavy 2-D cell flashlight to LED. I think this must be hard for the LED bulb supplier when the mount, reflector and dimensions are already set by the existing flashlight. The bulb easily replaced the existing incandescent original. I was expecting the output to be like that of new LED flashlights, but it is not, though it is brighter than before. The shape of the spot with narrowest focus resembles a comet (with a tail). The batteries should last a long time, being 2 D cells with an LED bulb. The price is competitive with other similar replacement LED's. I will probably not endeavor to upgrade other flashlights to LED, but rather, as another reviewer recommended, put them in a garage sale.

This bulb flickers a bit when the focus is being adjusted on our Mag Lite. It stays good and bright as long as you leave the focus alone. The flashlight doesn't do this with the original bulb. We believe this is caused by the LED circuits being more sensitive to electrical contacts that slide inside the flashlight as the focus is adjusted. Other than this small "glitch" it works perfectly!
