The unit I received was defective.
Personally, I like the look of the watch. It was also very easy to set up and the directions available with the package were simple to understand. I bought this heart rate monitor to replace a Polar heart rate monitor after it begain to malfunction. I used this unit three times and had a few issues. The first was that it did not consistantly read my heart rate. It would read very low (84 bpm) then jump very high (233 bpm), which is unlikely to happen during a steady 3.5 mph treadmill walk. The second issue I had was the sensor did not stay connected to the watch. Connection would be established for a few minutes and then dropped, showing only "---" on the watch face. I fussed with it during a few workouts and ultimately contacted the manufacturer for troubleshooting help. During my communications with the manufacturer, all of my questions were answered throughly and promptly. They sent me a replacement unit, but that did not correct the issue. The replacement read better, but I was still having some connection issues. I wish this had worked out for me because it would have been a solid product to own. I understand others had no issues using this product. This was not the case for me. I ultimately decided to return it to Amazon.

Way too big
The monitor looks to be high quality and has a lot of features. However, it did not come with a manual in the box and their website both auto-plays annoying music *and* doesn't have the manual online. Edit: They sent me an email a few days after my purchase with this link to the user manual: http://www.heartq.net/instruction-manualI'm a thin female of average height (5'4"), and this watch and chest strap were both far too large for me. The chest strap does not adjust small enough for my rib cage (size 2), although that can be "fixed" with a safety pin. The watch spins on my wrist unless I tighten it down the the smallest notch, but even then it's wider than my wrist is and looks riddiculous. HeartQ really ought to make a women's version of this monitor.

Updated Review - Very Pleased with the Product and Customer Service
Updated Review...Shortly after posting my original review of this heart rate monitor, I was contacted by the HeartQ customer service team with an offer to replace the failed HRM with a new device or refund my purchase price. I agreed to the replacement and have been very pleased with my decision. The new HRM has worked very well and I continue to enjoy the features that initially attracted me to the device - large display, easy menu navigation, saved workout data. What has impressed me the most is the genuine dedication and commitment to customer satisfaction demonstrated by the HeartQ Team. They didn't simply offer to replace my original HRM, they continued to follow-up with me over a period of weeks to ensure I was satisfied with the replacement device. They also showed an honest desire to determine the underlining cause of the (original) failed device.Based on my recent experiences with the HeartQ HRM, I have no reservations recommending their product..................................Original Review...I exercise 4-5 days a week and routinely use a heart rate monitor to keep track of my calories and avg./max heart rate. I purchased the HeartQ to replace a Timex HRM I've used the past couple of years. Initially, I was pleased with the purchase. I appreciated the ease of use and the large display on the watch face. However, after just two weeks of using the HeartQ, it started to fail. At first, it would stop monitoring my heart rate in mid-workout. A few days later, it stopped monitoring the HR entirely. Thinking the battery may need to be replaced, I purchsed a new CR2032 and opened the panel on the chest strap. When I did, I found the entire inner compartment full of dark fluid. I assume perspiration must have penetrated the compartment and damaged the internal components. After trying to clean the inside, the HeartQ still didn't work. Adding to the frustration, my attempt to replace the battery occurred three days after the 30-day return window for the watch. In retrospect, I should have returned the watch immediately after it failed rather than waiting to replace the battery.
