SCI Scandicrafts Removable Bottom 12.5" x 1" Fluted Tart/Quiche Mold, Silver

I was surprised at how quickly this came; it was also very well packaged. Since my 10" tart pan is non-stick, I was a bit leery of tin; it was so inexpensive for the size that I feared it would be flimsy. But the video Paula Deen had of her 12" tart pan looked just like it, so I decided to give it a try. It's also extremely hard to find this exact size, which was what I needed for a large party. Well, the tart came out beautifully, the tin was absolutely non-stick, and it was super easy to clean by hand (you NEVER put tin in a dishwasher). Another reviewer said the edges were sharp and they cut themselves handling it. Maybe the manufacture is inconsistent, but although the edges are somewhat sharp, I handled them bare-handed without being particularly careful, and with not so much as a scrape. Of course, I wouldn't leave the fluted ring in a full dishpan to poke my fingers, but since it cleans so easily you wouldn't have to leave it in there anyway. I cleaned it with a soapy cloth and rinsed with clear water and, voila!, like new and ready to use again.

The pan is sturdy and the fluting itself is well crafted BUT Use Extreme Caution!! My husband was washing it before we used it the first time. The edges of the insert and the edges where it fits in are RAZOR sharp!! Wondering if some machining or finishing was forgotten? He cut his hand while drying the ring or fluted part and it really required stitches but being a manly man, he would not go to have it sewn up. We "glued" his skin back together but it had to be reapplied over several days. Whatever you do, do NOT allow children to handle this pan and use caution when the insert is separate from the fluted piece. Other than that, it makes a lovely tart.

I have not used the pans yet. However, I did wash them as soon as they arrive and I caution buyers that the rim is razor sharp.
