Super convenient door for family dog.
We previously had a smaller door for our pup, but had to upsize to this one once she reached full size. She is able to go in and out of our home as she pleases, and the flap always closes after she goes through it. It comes with a door that can slide on and lock into place to prevent it from being used if you ever have the need. It took our pup less than 5 minutes to learn how to use the door with treat prompting from either side of the door. Highly recommend!

Does the job
Dog door works great! Quality seems fine. Dogs overtime busting out of the door will break the plastic that the actual door uses to swivel but simple JB weld or plastic solder will fix it back on. The door uses 2 small magnets on the bottom of the flap that can fall out with time and can be dangerous if your dogs likes to eat everything so glue should fix the possible issue

Best door!
My animals have gone thru several doors. Some have lasted under 24 hours. This door is awesome! The door could be thicker on the hinges but overall it seals very well . I have 3 large dogs ,2 small dogs and a pig that uses the door without any problems. Highly recommend!

So much better than the last one
Update after about 2 years of constant use by 2 dogs and 2 cats: Still works perfectly with an excellent seal against the great outdoors. Great product! We had a flexible flap dog door for the last ten years. I hated it. It drove me up the wall trying to get it to seal. The flap invariably deformed around the edges and the cold air would whistle in. I could take it apart and use an iron on a low setting to straighten it out and get an okay seal for a while, but it only lasted a month or so and we were back to effectively having a gaping maw that ushered in cold air. The old door flap was also thin and I swear the cold radiated right through it.I bought a small cat door for my daughter that is similar to this design. It was so good at keeping the cold air and rain out that I finally decided to replace our old dog door with this one.Best thing I have ever done for keeping our house warmer and cutting down on the heating bills! What a wonderful improvement! I really can't say enough nice things about this dog door. The dogs and cats were initially reluctant to use it, because the flap was solid and sort of whomped shut, but they adapted to it after a couple of weeks. It was not difficult to put in. I installed the previous dog door too. I had to enlarge the width of the previous hole and scabbed in a piece of plywood at the top. We also used some spray foam, in the gap behind the frame, to improve the weatherproofing. If you are looking for a dog door that really keeps the cold, wind, and rain out, then I think you will find this one meets your needs.

The best door to keep out the weather
I live in the Pacific Northwest & often keep different dogs for friends & family when they travel, so I know about dogs & doggy doors! I've tried several different brands & sizes of dog doors in different homes throughout the years. Some broke. Some got chewed. Some flapped in the wind. Some were quite expensive. Dog Mate is my favorite brand so far because it's reasonably priced, easy for dogs to run in & out, takes a beating from rowdy mutts & best of all, the durable fuzzy insulation around the perimeter of the flap that actually keeps out wind, snow & rain. It's not the easiest to install, but I figured it out so you can, too. I just had a new back door installed & traded up from medium to the large size. The medium size door was installed 7 years ago. I cleaned it up and gave it away because it's still in very good shape. The large size can now accommodate smaller & larger dogs. I'm watching a cocker spaniel, a puggle, a tiny boston terrier, & a large labradoodle today and all these crazy mutts use it with no problems at all. When I have to lock dogs outside & use the protective slider & pegs, dogs will ram themselves against it trying to get in. None have broken through yet. I've never written such a long review before. DogMate is a better door than the pricey ones.

Excellent dog door.
This door worked really well. Bought this door in 2023 and had some slight difficulty installing on a metal foam door, other than that the door worked well for the wiener dogs we had at the time. We now have an almost 11 month old puppy and she chewed the bottom edge of the door causing one of the magnets to fall out leaving a roughly 1” X 2” hole where she chewed the door, with the cold weather we’ve had this winter it’s been a challenge to keep the door sealed especially with our cats also using the door, they like to pull the door open with their claws. My one negative about this door is I’ve been unable to find a replacement door without having to buy the door with frame all over again.

Worst door to install
I would not recommend this dog door. It was a hassle and very difficult to install and I have installed a number of dog doors over the years. This one is by far the worst because of the weatherstripping and panels which have to be held in place while trying to get it all to go together. Also, the screws have to be cut to length which means the nuts are difficult to get on and off. The panel which locks the dog door is very flimsy. There is no track to slide the panel in, you have to hook it into the top and then into the bottom. Which means you can't do it in a hurry. Plus, to take the panel out, you have to press in on the button on the bottom of the door which means bending over or squatting to do it. Very poor engineering on this door. Now that it's installed, it does seem to work well and stay closed but we do not have prevailing winds from the direction the door faces so I cannot say how well it will stay closed in a strong wind. It took my dogs a while to figure this door out, because of the solid flap. They thought the lock out panel was in place. I don't think it's as comfortable for the dogs as a flexible flap. If I ever have to buy another dog door, it will definitely be a different brand/style.
