MEDIOCRE SOUND QUALITY, SO DON'T TRY USING THIS IN A DECENT HI-FI SYSTEM.

Unpredictable, this is my second unit, red display light goes on and off by itself along with radio. One hour timer does not turn off. Sound is good, fm antenna is sub par. The manual is poorly written with no way to contact seller, Amazon is aware of this problem and correcting it.

So nice I bought it twice! I purchased my original unit several months ago for my home office and was so pleased, I just got a second one for our summer house. As noted by others, the construction is very nice and sturdy. Honestly, if I didn't know it started life as a car unit, I wouldn't immediately know. The player is housed in an attractive, black, brushed metal box and looks like quality. More importantly, I'm very please with its sound. It is more than powerful enough to power and an old pair of Advent bookshelf speakers I already own. I'll probably be adding Klipsch R-14M to my 2nd unit. Finally, I do a lot of critical listening to CDs over headphones and am very happy with the sound quality without any discernable electric noise. The CD player has had no problems playing any of my various burned disks. Five-star rating!

My wife purchased this for me as an early Christmas gift. I knew immediately it was going back.The sound quality (or lack thereof) is by far the weakest I have ever heard. Any iPhone will put out one million times more amps than this thing. I wanted to replace my longtime home stereo system with this, but that is not happening. I had the volume cranked all the way up, and I could still hear crickets chirping from 17 miles away. This is the weakest stereo system I have ever encountered.

No one would confuse me with an audiophile, but I know how I like things to sound on a home stereo system. This hefty yet compact system delivers the goods and then some. I have it hooked up to some Bose computer speakers (!) and the result is resonant bass, clear highs and details I have never heard before in songs I’ve listened to hundreds of times. I’m very pleased that my CD collection will enjoy an extended life thanks to this player.You’ve probably noticed that many reviews have mentioned excellent, responsive customer service. I can also attest to this. The first unit I received had issues, and, I’ll be candid, I was pretty disappointed. But, a couple of emails later, I had a new unit (with updated remote, by the way) which is working beautifully. Communication was fast, courteous, and direct. They made it right for me and I’m very pleased with this purchase.
