A surprising, versatile sauce.
It was really good for homemade pizza. It was also good as a basic, thick and smooth pasta sauce with spaghetti, or as a seasoned tomato sauce base for ratatouille. The seasonings were great, and the ingredients were natural. It was easy to use, ready straight from the can. I'm stocking up on more!

Great for chili
The apparent reformulation has left this product a little too watery to make pizza with, in my opinion. However, I decided to try it in a batch of chili I made recently, and it came out perfectly! And for the price, it's more than worth it.If you only want to use it for pizza, you could boil it down to thicken it. I think you could also add a little bit of flower while boiling. This process is quick because you only need like 1/4 of the can for a 12 inch pizza--so boiling just 1/4 of the can will only take a couple of minutes. Then you can use the other 3/4 of the can for chili--just fry celery, onions, peppers and your protein (in my case, TVP), then add this pizza sauce can to the pot (I poured in about 3/4 of the can and used the rest for pizza). After cooking a bit, I poured in some water, seasonings, and beans. Cooking time was only 30-45 minutes, and so easy with this pizza sauce.

Good sauce otherwise but too sweet
This product is good, but it's awfully sweet for my taste.

Very tasty pizza sauce
Tried a can and it was very good. I added it to a DiGiorno pizza for extra sauce and was very happy with the flavor. Sometimes those types of pizzas are stingy on the amount of sauce they put on them, and I like lots of sauce, so this made it really great. One can of this can easily do 3-4 pizzas the way I used it. I'm sure it would also be great on a homemade pizza, but you would probably need one whole can for that. Am definitely going to keep a few cans in stock for my use.

Bad batch.
Update 2. Amazon, it is time to empty your stock of this Happy Belly garbage. I gave it a few more months, took the chance and still got ANOTHER CAN of the Sept 2025 Happy Belly bad batch. Evidently people have stopped ordering in the area supplies by this warehouse because there is no excuse for this to still be on the shelves. I am finally done. You have been told over and over this batch it bad, but still refuse to remove it from rotation. My local store brand is a bit more expensive, but at least I can see what I am getting in the jar.Update. After seeing they changed the packaging and reading the old recipe was back I tried again. I received the old Happy Belly can, the same Sept 2025 date and the same runny tomato sauce, this is not Pizza Sauce and I will not try again. Fool me 3 times and I am done. They say there is no bad pizza, they are wrong. I bought 2 cans on Apr 1st. And either they were mislabeled or one of the worse April Fool jokes ever. Both can were more crushed tomato than Pizza Sauce. Since I had no other pizza sauce in the house I made my pizza with it. It was not good, flat with no flavor and watery. I will buy 1 can again to see I it has been fixed. I see others got the same mix up around the same time and have gotten the good stuff again since.

What happened?
I was planning on leaving a full 5 stars because my first 2 purchases of this pizza sauce were wonderful and delicious!!! The texture and flavor were the best pizza sauce we have ever bought. But this newest order IS N0T anywhere near the same delicious sauce it was. I didn't even use it. I was so unhappy, but thankful I still had some of my previous orders still. This new batch is watery, chunky and you can't smell or taste the spices. It just smells like tomato sauce, not pizza sauce. I don't know if this change is purposeful but I sure hope you change it back. I was recommending it to my friends because of how wonderful it was and how affordable with the added benefit of its just the basic ingredients not extra junk that's in other sauces.

Well worth it.
Despite temperatures being too warm to use the oven, I could not stand waiting any longer and decided to make pizza bread for dinner.A lovely loaf of fresh Italian bread was my chosen base for tonight's dinner. Happy Belly Pizza Sauce was my sauce of choice, spiked with onion, garlic and Italian seasoning. My toppings were sausage, bell pepper, mushrooms and Mozzarella cheese.Baked at 425 degrees for 8 minutes and dinner was served.Delicious. Delightful. And oh so satisfying when it's something you've been wanting to have for several weeks. I was very pleased with the taste. Happy Belly Pizza Sauce tasted much like the sauce I'd had on pizzas long ago, unlike the undercooked, acidy taste of so many of the sauces currently available. Happy Belly (aptly named) was thick and rich and pleasantly flavorful. However, given that food tastes differ, it would be up to each individual as to whether they'd like this sauce.I, for one, do like this sauce and would definitely buy it again and again. And it was very affordable in a time when money isn't stretching as far as it once did. Tonight, for the first night in several weeks, I had truly enjoyable meal and am positive the pizza sauce had much to do with that.I'll want a repeat of tonight's dinner very soon, once the nighttime temps drop a bit more. :-)Don't be afraid to give basic foods a chance, especially a food as inexpensive as this that is just begging to be used in edible experiments.

Delicious!
Being from Chicago, I was mad at my husband for buying pizza sauce from Amazon. But OMG….this stuff is amazing! This is one of the best pizza sauces I’ve ever tasted. I’ve told everyone I know about it!
