These holsters got a bad rap because rookie shooters were pushing the release button
I bought this holster years ago, when Safariland's quality control went down the tubes. This is a very fast, very reliable holster.Note: You MUST learn how to properly draw and present a firearm if you intend to carry it holstered. When the draw is complete and you are holding or aiming your gun, your trigger finger MUST REMAIN INDEXED along the side of the frame. These holsters got a bad rap because rookie shooters were pushing the release button, drawing their pistol, then allowing their trigger finger to snap off the holster and onto the trigger, causing a negligent discharge.I've been drawing with this holster, as well as the concealed model, for roughly 15 years with absolutely no problems. KEEP YOUR FINGER INDEXED when you draw, and don't put this holster to work until that is a well established habit. This is not difficult...in fact, this should be the way everybody is taught to draw. When properly used, this is an exceedingly fast holster. I promise indexing is not going to slow you down. The retention devices will not slow down a proper draw.It is easy to get a proper, high grip on the pistol.I recommend this holster to everybody who carries. Too many folks, including well trained, experienced law enforcement officers, have been killed after their guns got snatched. A retention holster is another layer between you and death, and probably the cheapest thing you can do to increase your and your partner's safety.Highly Recommend!

Very secure
Very well made and you have to use two fingers to unlock it which is better than the other ones I've had

My favorite holster
I really appreciate the quick safe draw I get with the SERPA Level 3 Auto Lock Duty Holster. It's very easy to draw. I don't know how some can't keep their trigger finger placement when drawing.I put the sportster attachment on it because I don't like the belt attachment that comes with it. I'm about to get another and work it into my carry jacket without the attachment. While I like the sportster footprint, I prefer the level 3 safety.Of all the holsters I've collected over the years, serpa are my favorite.

Good
I like the security aspect of this holster. It has a top flip top that covers the top of the firearm and prevents a quick grab by a third party for your firearm. The second security feature is a "button" on the side of the holster that must be depressed to remove the firearm. A note of caution with the second button, make sure your hands are dry and the holster is rock solidly secured in your hands or on your waist. If you are not completely focused, you can depress the second "button" with your index finger and as you raise the firearm your index finger with slide right onto the trigger. That rarely ends well. The holster does sit low on the hip and is visible if you wear a suit at work. They do sell a small plastic part for about $10 to $15 that made it sit higher on my hip and hid it from public view.

Great duty holster. Nice and snug. Fits G45
Purchased for my G45. Fits securely on belt and doesn’t jump around. Another good product from Blackhawk.

A Great Holster!
Like all BlackHawk products I've bought through the years, this did not fail to deliver! Not had this exact type of BlackHawk holster before, but I am very happy with it. Used it at the range the other day and I will be carrying it as my daily "Duty Holster". Before carrying a Duty Holster, I thinks it's very important to take it to the range and test it out in many different ways.My Captain is also a competitive shooter and is actually sponsored by Safariland and so he wasn't too happy about me getting the non-Safariland BlackHawk holster. Hee Hee...but to each his own.Good quality and works great!

Great Duty Holster...
I looked at a few other duty holsters before deciding on this one. I find the "Pivot Guard Thumb Release" and "Finger Tray" release system to be very natural and intuitive. This holster is also thicker than regular Serpa Concealment Holsters are. I'm sold on this one. I especially like the fact that the Pivot Guard covers my rear sight/slide area. That really helps to protect my firearm! The only negative is that the low-ride belt loop attachment is too low for me. I ordered the "BLACKHAWK! Mid-Ride Duty Belt Loop with Duty Holster Screws" to remedy the problem. I just feel that you should be able to select the option that you desire in this particular area before placing an order.
