Want to learn sleight of hand? Start here.
A classic. Bought my first copy when first published. Glad to have it. Better than video for learning basics.

Great first magic book
This is one of those rare magic books that comes along and makes it very very easy for the beginner to pick up and learn real slight of hand. Im so happy to see this till in print I got my first copy back in early 80's and what a help it was in opening up my world of magic. I got this as a gift for a friend and Im sure it will do the same for them. The illustrations are very easy to follow and the text is well written. The true beauty of this book I feel is you need no knowledge of the art of slight of hand to start in it. The book takes you through the basics and into the advance handling. You will learn both the handling of cards and coins but tricks to do with them as well. I have this in my magical library and I suggest if you love magic you do to.

Limited usefulness
Decent instructions for the mechanics of various tricks but seems to lack background information to help a beginner develop the necessary dexterity so requires a lot of self motivation for success.

It's great!
This is one of the best sleight of hand books ever written! The pictures are very helpful and one accompanies every single trick. Inside you'll find card sleights, flourishes, coin tricks (including simple routines), and other various sleight of hand tricks. One of my personal favorites is the thimble magic and changing spots trick. The rating system is especially helpful for beginning magicians as they attempt things like the French drop and simple coin vanishes.I always recommend this book to anyone interested in magic, even children can follow along! I think every amateur magician or magic enthusiast should own a copy.

Such a great way to learn!
This book is fantastic step by step way to learn sleight of hand. It has a lot of lessons and they all build on each other. I've been looking for a way to pick up basic sleight of hand skills but I've never known where to start. This starts with the very basic basics then shows you how to grow.

Confusing illustrations
When a book is showing you an illustration of a right hand, telling you to use the left hand... VERY confusing, pretty much worthless.

Really good trick book, very well illustrated
I really dont understand why some people here didnt give good scores for this book. It is really amazing the number of ilustrations that this book have. And all of them are very good, very real and practive.I dont like magic that you need some apparatus to do it, so, I really enjoy this book, and if you try hard, you can amke really good stuff. All card magics (as the others) are based on your had skill, so there are no tricks, only hand tricks like making a card vanish... it is really cool.Another good book is Modern Coin Magic by J B Bobo... all kinda coin vanishiment is here.
