This seems to be a design flaw of GE. The first one was on them under warranty. I'm now on my third one when the replacement stopped. Disassembly is becoming easier and more familiar after the first two fans failed and needed replacement. I will say, GE made it fairly simple to get to.

This replacement part has fixed the loud noises my refrigerator was making!! It's been over 6 months since we replaced it with this one and it is working better than ever! The build quality seems better than the last time we replaced it with a different model. It was easy to install and it fit well. The refrigerator is working better than ever. The refrigerator is cooling better than it ever did. It is definitely worth the value for the money and I feel certain the lifespan on this one will be better.

May ‘25 - The fan appears to be working just fine however I can confirm, as others have mentioned, it has a bit of a whine to it. It runs smoothly, immediately fixed my issue with cooling air not circulating, but the whine is a little noisy, slightly annoying if yours was quiet.

Our French door GE fridge constantly freezes up and the fan stops working. We’ve been told it’s a regular issue so bought this. It has been working great. Fit perfectly. It’s a little louder than the manufacturer fan, but it has done a great job.

My GE stopped cooling in the refrigerated section. Things were freezing in the crispers and meat drawers. I thought I had packed the fridge too tight. I removed lots of stuff and it was still happening. I called a local repair person who gave me a LONG list of possible issues and replacement parts that we could "try". I decided that rather than try for expensive parts, that I would just order a new fridge because I couldn't get other servicers in my small town to look at a GE, and GE didn't have any recommendations or certified providers. I was on my own! - So, I found a video on U Tube which had a similar issue, and they replaced the fan and it was fixed. This product is like a computer fan and easy to install. After literally living out of a mini fridge in my kitchen for over a month, this simple part fixed my fridge. The old fan wouldn't even turn. I am so thankful that I found this product and we were able to install it ourselves. Saved $ coming and going on the repair/replacement.

Husband researched for solution to problem with fridge and found that this was the part we needed. French door fridge - freezer working, veggie and meat/cheese drawers cold but main fridge was 60'. Found great videos on how to replace this fan and husband did it.We probably saved ourselves a service repair bill of about $1000 by just purchasing this fan for $32 and installing it ourselves. Took husband about 45 minutes as he was being super careful not to break any of the plastic interior parts. Once installed and plugged in (oh, did I mention it's literally "plug and play"?) we plugged the fridge back in and the fan took off. Within about 6 hours, the fridge interior was down to 37'.The fan is so quiet, we can't even hear it running. We are certain that our 11 yr old fridge is running better than when we bought it!If you are handy enough to be able to do your own repairs, what a blessing. And to increase your chances of identifying the problem, finding the solution and then getting it fixed, I can't stress enough the usefulness of on-line videos. A true life saver.
