Q: Is it machine washable?

Yes. We have washed ours a million times and it still looks great. The only issue we have had is the stitching around the zipper across the bum has come loose, so I restitched it back up and its been great. My daughter basically lives in it 24/7.

Q: How does it zipper up? Is it easy for kiddo to go potty by themselves?

This buttons down the front. Depending on how well your child is with unbuttoning, this shouldn’t be a problem. My granddaughter is 5 and had no problems. We loved this bunny costume and she plans to wear this for Halloween. It also washes well! Hope this helps!
