I am a big guy and bought this mat specifically for stretching out and doing kettle bell workouts in my living room. Been using it for roughly a month now and love it. Large enough that I can fully stretch out and do Turkish getups without my kettle bell touching hard wood floors. Speaking of floors I use this mat directly over hard wood flooring and find it provides pretty good cushioning. More importantly it does not budge--I have tried to make it slide and it will not. It stays in place with no curl to edges and rolls up easily for storage. A very stable base with just the right amount of cushion for working with and swinging heavy bells with the confidence that you are completely grounded for the workout. My daughter does yoga on it and practices gymnastics so it has already had a lot of use with no sign of wear or tear.

This mat along with a few other brands sat in my cart for MONTHS. I read review after review after review. I finally settled on gorilla mats for 2 reasons 1. If it gets messed up they replace it! Say whaaaat?! Yep if you’re gonna spend $140 thAt is Totally a reason to purchase from this company. 2. They are a small family owned business. That’s very important in these days of big box stores taking over our landscape. I purchased an $80 mat from lululemon that’s total junk and no where near the size of this one. It’s probably 1/4 the size of this one. Is it slippery? Yes , but it says after use that will fade. Much like every other yoga mat I’ve purchased. If I’m doing any yoga poses or push ups or something I just place a yoga mat down for my hands.It is a sturdy thick mat I use it over carpet An it moves a little but I do tons of hiit work outs with lots of jumping around. I just place a 10 lb weight on 2 of the 4 sides and it stays in place perfectly. It comes with 2 straps so you can roll it up and out of the way. Oh yeah the best part, it lays flat from the 1st time you unroll it. That was a huge sell for me. My lululemon mat does not, and that is a total trip hazard. This size was perfect for doing broad jumps, burpees, lateral jumps, jump rope. Basically any exercise. For reference I’m 5‘4“ and 117 pounds. Support small businesses!!

Compact but dense mat, arrived promptly and in good condition, rolled out smoothly on the floor. No strong odor on the mat, but enough that will need to wash the included towel before use. The large size and substantial weight due to density is exactly what I wanted.Glad I splurged on this for my home gym, finally I can do long jumps and side-to-side jumps without the mat sliding on the floor! Excellent grip on laminate floor, measures as advertised, easy to roll up and transport if needed. Planning to use this for HIIT, weight lifting, yoga, core/barre. After testing it out briefly it seems suitable for all of these without discomfort. Even though it is quite thin, the substantial material is enough to make floor work comfortable.Happy customer! :)

I’m doing a higher intensity workout and the mat allows me to stay off my wood floor with how large it is. It holds me and my weights and keeps my floor safe from any damage with room to spare. Very comfortable for any floor exercises and at the same time durable for jumping exercise.

I have a home gym with vinyl planks. I have this mat and smaller version for my home gym inside my condo. Great protection. I've never dropped anything significant on it though. I also used these mats for home improvement projects to protect my floors (i.e. cutting wood etc). It cleaned up well with vacuum and some wet paper towels.

Love this mat. I work out in my garage and my old mat would slip anytime I would do side-to-side exercises (e.g. speed skaters). I don't know how they did it, but this mat does not slip at all - it sticks like glue to my concrete floor. It's pretty cushy (not quite as cushy as I thought it would be, but still feels good). It wipes easily and it is super thick and feels like it will last a long time. My only complaint is that if your skin comes in contact with the mat while you are sweaty (such as doing planks or push ups) it is as slippery as baby snot. So, in order to get around that issue I use the microfiber rag that comes with the mat (which is really nice as well) and put that under my hands or arms when doing those types of exercises. Overall really high-quality and nice mat.

I bought the 4' X 8' gorilla mat to anchor my Bowflex BXT216 which came with a large 39" X 85" footprint. This mat easily handles that large size. The mat arrived on time and in excellent condition. The mat came in it's own sack (if storage or moving it is necessary). After opening it, I was expecting some outgassing, but there was little noticeable smell after removing the packaging. Additionally, once I unrolled it, and laid it flat...it relaxed to completely flat in minutes. My dog has already "christened" the product, so I can confirm that liquids wipe easily from the mat with no penetration.I've only had the mat for a couple of days, but I am completely satisfied with the product to date. It is a little pricier than other mats, but it is also larger than most mats, and appears to be a high quality product. I would say that I would buy the product again, but honestly...I'm not expecting to need to for a good long time.

I started the Beachbody exercise program which includes burpees and many floor exercises. I was exercising in a carpeted room with a yoga mat. This did not work well at all, my yoga mat was all over the place. I could not move through the exercise sequence on the carpet. I was in search of a solution. A friend recommended Gorilla mats. I purchased this mat a few weeks ago. I absolutely love it. I recommend reading and following the accompanying instructions that address how to keep your new mat from becoming too slippery. I admit I did not do this initially and noticed the mat surface was quite slippery especially with sweat. I then read and followed the directions. This resolved the issue. Lesson learned! The mat is well constructed, easy to roll up, and offers enough padding to do burpees and floor exercises comfortably. I highly recommend this mat.
