Brilliant!
Strong battery life, ease of use, great value (especially when on offer), DAB functionality is amazing and means you don't have to rely on bluetooth all the time. Music is clear as is speak, and it works well indoors and out. Happy happy days!

Pure quality
Usual Pure quality, ideal for small garden room. The sound quality is very good and the battery lasts well between charges. I find the functionality to be excellent and easy to use.

Five stars for the NORMAL model, 2 stars for the MINI model
I don't know why Amazon lumps together reviews for different products??? Anyway the NORMAL MODEL is head and shoulders better than the MINI MODEL. First the NORMAL MODEL It's good radio but I find the bass too boxy and boomy (not in a good way). Some equalizer options would have been nice to alter the sound more to my liking.Update, I've changed my rating for the NORMAL MODEL to 5 stars because after using it for a while it seems to sound even better. I'm not sure if it's because my ears have become accustomed to the sound or the speaker has "run in" (if there is such a thing???) or maybe a bit of both. Also this has an easily replaceable battery if it should ever need it (please make sure it's a genuine good quality one for safety reasons though). Much better for the planet than throwing away a perfectly good appliance just because it's battery has given up.Now the MINI MODEL Terrible muffled sound, no highs, no bass and not clear or powerful enough for an outdoor speaker. Also the MINI looks like a sealed unit so I'm guessing there's no easy way to replace the battery so would probably become garbage if the battery fails. It does have good radio reception but so does the NORMAL MODEL.Summary, NORMAL MODEL Is EXCELLENT with powerful good sound. and MINI MODEL Is POOR with muffled underpowered sound. Both do have very good radio reception though.

Excellent sound quality / very simple controls
If you have arrived at this review because you are looking for a waterproof DAB radio, you will probably have already realised that there is not a lot of choice in this particular niche. From my experience, if you are currently looking for a waterproof DAB radio that also provides good sound quality, then you end up with a shortlist containing one product, the Pure Woodland. In short, I briefly looked at the waterproof DAB offerings from "Pearl" & "Majority", but they both had received fairly patchy reviews & I quickly discounted them. I did purchase a "DigiFunk site radio", which was nicely designed (apart from the word "DigiFunk" being emblazoned across the speaker!), but it had very poor audio quality. Refer to my review of this radio for details. The reason I didn't initially buy the Pure Woodland, was partly due to the fact that it is twice as expensive as the DigiFunk, but mainly because I had sworn to never again buy another Pure product, after my last 4 Pure Internet radios (2 were bought, 2 were warranty replacements) had become unusable due to their OLED screens failing!I bought the Pure Woodland to replace a 17 year old Pure Oasis DAB radio that is still functioning perfectly, but does not support DAB+. The Woodland is a VERY basic DAB / FM radio & Bluetooth speaker. Some might see the simplicity of the Woodland to be a plus point, some might see it as a negative point. For example, there is no way to initiate a scan of radio stations, you just power up the radio with the antenna extended & it finds the available stations. You can then locate the available stations, in alphabetic order, sequentially, by pressing the forward / reverse buttons. You have the ability to save only 3 favourite DAB stations & 3 FM stations. There is no way to tinker with the sound settings, you just get what you are given. This is OK, because what you are given is an excellent rich & warm sound, which I would say is comparable to my two Roberts radios (Revival Uno & iStream3), or my JBL Flip Essential Bluetooth speaker. The Woodland’s control buttons & (tiny) display are top mounted & seem to be very well waterproofed, as they are sealed under the radio’s rubberised coating. I certainly have no qualms about operating the radio with wet hands. I have been using my Woodland in a steamy bathroom environment for several weeks & it does not appear to have suffered any ill effects so far, but I have not tested the radio by fully immersing it in water. The radio display just shows the station you are listening to, along with a bar graph showing how much battery life remains & a signal strength indicator in either radio mode. Nothing “fancy” is displayed, like the name of the track currently being played. From my experience, once the battery warning symbol replaces the bar graph in the display, you have about an hour of use remaining. I use the Woodland in my first-floor bathroom & get a strong DAB signal & good reception, without the need to extend the aerial. My main gripe about the controls is that a quite long press of the power button is required to power the radio off, presumably to stop the radio being inadvertently turned off. WHY? Firstly, it would be very difficult to accidentally turn off the radio, with its indented, rubber covered power button & secondly, this is not something vital like a life support machine, it is just a radio, so it’s not the end of the world if it gets switched off by mistake!! To power on the radio just requires a short press of the power button & it only takes 6 seconds before any sound is heard in DAB mode. The Woodland is like my previous Pure Internet radios & has incremental volume control, where each click of either of the two volume buttons, either increases, or decreases the volume by one level. The boffins at Pure seemed to have designed these volume levels with gaps that are too large, meaning that the volume is always slightly too quiet, or slightly too loud. My old Pure Oasis has a sliding scale volume control, which is a much better solution & although my Roberts radios also have incremental volume controls, they seem to have many more volume levels available, so that a perfect level can always be set. With regards to battery life, using the radio at normal indoor volume levels for a mix of DAB & Bluetooth use, I only achieved 11 hours & 20 minutes of the claimed 14 hours battery life from a full charge, after I had previously completely depleted the battery. Using the radio at outdoor volume level I would estimate that you would be lucky to get half of the claimed battery life. However, I think that all manufacturers of products with rechargeable batteries lie about battery life. The DigiFunk radio has a claimed battery life of 34 hours, yet in about 3 hours of my indoor testing, the battery indicator showed that the battery had depleted by 32%, meaning an actual battery life of around 9 hours. From my testing, the Woodland takes between 4.5 & 5 hours to fully charge, from being completely drained, using a mid-output USB charging plug. The charging time will vary greatly depending on the output of the charger used, it could take many more hours if you use a charger with a very low output, like an iPhone charger, or much less time if you used a “fast” charger, but this comes at the cost of reducing the overall lifetime of the battery. For the £140 cost of this radio, it is very penny pinching of Pure to not include a recommended USB charger with the radio, all you get in the box is a USB lead. Even the DigiFunk radio came with a charging plug! I have found that when I start charging the radio, after I have fully depleted the battery, DAB does not work until a certain level of charge has been put back into the battery. I assume that in DAB mode, power must be used faster than the charger can put back in, so what this actually means is that the Woodland will never charge if you use the radio in DAB mode whilst charging it. I have not tested this in Bluetooth & FM mode, but I suspect the same situation will apply.I was fairly nonplussed that the Woodland also comes with Bluetooth functionality, as I already have a JBL waterproof Bluetooth speaker, which I only tend to use when travelling, as I don’t keep it in my bathroom & it only automatically connects to my phone in about 8 out of 10 attempts, which is frustrating. I had thought that the connection problems were down to my phone, but when using Bluetooth on the Woodland, it connects to my phone first time, every time. Also, by the fact that I keep my Woodland in my bathroom, it is always there, ready for use & I have found myself using the Woodland in Bluetooth mode a lot more than I anticipated I would. The audio quality on Bluetooth is just as good as it is on DAB. I can confirm that FM mode on the Woodland works, but that is just about it, as there is nothing on FM that I would wish to listen too, which isn’t also available on DAB.Overall, I would highly recommend the Pure Woodland, its sound quality is excellent & its simple functionality is quite endearing. Apart from being an excellent bathroom radio, this would make a very good radio for an elderly person, or technophobe, to use as their main household radio.

Pure Woodland Mini - very pleased
I wanted something for tent camping, this little radio seems to tick all the boxes, small, robust, Bluetooth enabled for catch up radio / podcasts . Having read some of the reviews I have to admit I was a bit sceptical but I’me not at all disappointed. Surprisingly clear deep bassy sound plus type C charging so can be charged from a power bank. Personally I’me very pleased .

Descent radio
Wanted a radio for bathroom so needed some waterproofing (very limited options out there). This is lightweight, battery seems to last well, easy to use. Sound is a bit 'basey' but fine for a bathroom. Small niggles - 1. you have to press and hold the on/off button for a couple of seconds - why design it like that? - it's irritating. 2. Its not as good as the Pure radio 'Pure Oasis' that I have had for the last 20 years and finally given up the ghost - it had a superb sound (if a little heavier) - why Pure ever discontinued that model is a mystery (perhaps it was too well built!)
