Durable and Versatile, the Press Itself Does Most of the Work! Love it!
This cast iron tortilla press is an excellent tool that delivers on both performance and value. It’s surprisingly versatile, I originally got it for tortillas, but have since used it for pie crusts and dumpling wrappers too. The press is simple to use, just place your dough ball slightly closer to the hinge (vs. the middle), close the lid, and press down with the handle. It flattens dough evenly into a nice circular shape that’s hard to replicate with a rolling pin, and does so quickly and consistently. The cast iron has a solid, heavy feel that actually works in your favor, you don’t need to apply much force to get great results. It comes pre-seasoned, which is nice, and while mine didn't have any rust or issues, I still recommend giving it a quick light oil coat every now and then to maintain it. Using parchment paper between the plates also help keep cleanup nice and easy. The handle feels sturdy and reliable with no signs of stress or cracking so far, and the flat, compact design makes storage easy, even with the handle still attached. All in all, works beautifully, and feels built to last. Definitely worth a try in my opinion!

So far so good
I got this tortilla press the other day and made some flour tortillas tonight for the first time. The press worked really well. I used the sliced ziplock while pressing the dough and it kept the press clean. Because it was flour dough I pressed it, turned 1/4 turn and pressed again until I did 4 presses. I found that my electric griddle just wasn't hot enough, so it took too long to cook. I also found that they were thicker than they should be. So, for the last few tortillas, I just kind of stretched the dough thinner. I'll make them a little thinner still next time. They tasted good, but I think they'll cook faster / better if thinner. I used the recipe that was on the manufacturer site. I changed it a tiny bit, but great recipe and easy to handle dough. I made dough in KitchenAid mixer and I "kneaded" it in the mixer with dough hook a few minutes until it was smooth. I rested dough 20 minutes. Then I made the dough balls and rested them about 10 minutes. So, if I use a hotter griddle (on my stove) or get a better electric griddle, my tortillas should be great.I can't speak to how long it'll last, but I can't imagine how they broke for so many reviewers. It seems sturdy, and you don't need to push down very hard on it to flatten the dough.I'm very happy with this!UPDATE: I've made corn and flour tortillas using this a few times now. I used advice on a Mexican woman's you tube tutorial, just to be sure I'm doing it right. She used a little lard in them both. I ordered some highly rated, expensive leaf lard. I forget brand but comes in plastic rectangular tub. It has little taste of it's own but brings out the taste and and texture of both flour and corn tortillas. Just a couple tablespoons per about 16 tortillas. I always do double batch because we wolf them down pretty quickly! Still no issues with the press after like 5 or 6 batches. I cook them with middle oblong burner on gas stove ( most of way up on my stove) using rectangular cast iron flat griddle. Works perfectly

Great for Homemade Tortillas – Easy and Reliable!
The media could not be loaded. I’ve been using this 8-inch Victoria cast iron tortilla press about 3 to 4 times a week to make homemade Nicaraguan tortillas, and it works great! It’s easy to use, has a solid weight that helps flatten the dough evenly, and definitely makes the process faster. The size is perfect for what I need. The only downside is that the surface can get a bit rough or rusty-looking (even with care), which is why I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5. Still, for the price and quality, it’s a great tool to have in the kitchen!

I use this all the time
This is a great tortilla press, I’m still a newbie but my tortillas are even and they puff up when cooking. I like the cast iron weight and look of this. I’m sure it will last me years and years, great quality product.

Excellent tortilla press (8") -- heavy & durable cast iron (requires a bit of TLC) + easy to use...
This is an excellent tortilla press. I had a heavy, cast aluminum one many years ago and it worked great but somehow ended up getting lost in our many moves and I never replaced it. Over the last year or so, I've been looking at various types of presses from different brands. The aluminum ones I have seen are nothing like my original one, so I decided to focus on the wooden and cast iron versions. I have a lot of cast iron cookware and I use it all of the time -- I find it incredibly easy to use and very durable. So when this 8" version became available, I was very interested. I chose this one over the pricer HD version in the same size, and this one is definitely sturdy enough for my use. Some reviews mention a handle that is plastic rather than cast iron, but the press I received is 100% cast iron and very well made. My favorite brand of cast iron (the iconic USA manufacturer) doesn't make a tortilla press and I have noticed that some imported cast iron cookware is not as heavy and often has unfinished areas and large pores, but this brand is of very high quality. I already have a dutch oven made by Victoria (imported from Colombia) so I was sure this would also be top-notch. And it is. Since it is cast iron, it will need a bit of extra care to prevent rusting so if you are not familiar with seasoning cast iron, be sure to do a bit of research before ordering. The press is heavy, smooth and pre-seasoned and turns out perfect medium-sized corn tortillas (I roll flour tortillas) that are then cooked on a comal/griddle on the stove top. The lettering is very crisply rendered. There is a smaller 6 1/2" as well as a larger 10" version, but this 8" model is just the right size for my family. The hinge pins and especially the cotter pins don't seem particularly robust, but they are holding up well so far + they can easily be replaced if needed -- they are inexpensive and readily available at a hardware store. I think this tortilla press is well worth the modest cost.
