Having bought several Braun razors over the years, many of them very expensive with ridiculously priced replacement heads, i thought i would give this wahl razor a go. I had recently bought the cheap Braun one which was just about ok but once again the replacement head is stupidly expensive. It just makes you want to buy a new replacement razor rather than a new head because there’s not much difference in price, very eco friendly of Braun!!! The series 7 cost £43.00 for the head, the series 9 is about £53.00 😱 think before you buy a Braun.. unless your loaded.Anyway, back to the Wahl. It is a far superior product. It may be about ten pounds or so more than the cheap Braun but it’s ten times better, money well spent. The quality of the shave is good, wet or dry and it just feels like a better product. One of the things that tempted me was the sensible price of the replacement head, about fifteen pounds, half the price of the Braun👍🏽. The other thing was the Wahl hair clippers that i bought 40 years ago (picture)…….. they are still going strong, amazing.Good razor, works; and I don’t work for Wahl 😊. I just dislike ripoff Braun

Exellect gives a very close shave and with trimmer on side its very use full long lasting battery

After my son's other electric razor broke we thought we'd give this one a go (price being a contributing factor). It's taken him a bit of getting used to. For some reason it wasn't quite as straight forward as carrying on as he had been with his previous shaver. I think what it is is that this one is not quite so good at chowing straight into week long stubble. In fact, the results were pretty rough just using it straight as a shaver. It took much much longer and didn't do such a clean job. Roll on a week and I coaxed him to try a different approach (he has autism, change isn't easy). This time he first used the trimmer attachment all over to trim the longest of the hairs (very good trimmer I have to say and great for the side burns), and only then did he move to using the foils. Definite improvement and closer shave. Unfortunately, he can't cope with this long-winded way of shaving. So, the compromise is to shave twice a week, just using the foils. This is working well, despite the protests (did I say he doesn't like shaving?!). The moral of the story? It is actually quite a nice and robust shaver, good trimmer and decent foils and easy to clean. It's downfall, for us, is that it is not one for more than about 3-4 day stubble. If you're also a reluctant shaver and like to just do so once a week, you may wish to invest a bit more and buy a different brand.

A very good rebust shaver that gives a good clean shave,all at,a,very good price

It looks like a bigger version of the Braun series 3 that I've long wanted to replace, with supposed longer battery life and potentially robust construction. So I charged it up and went to work.In a nutshell, it simply doesn't shave well, failing to cut 1 days growth after several passes and feeling somewhat unweildy in the hand. The tilting head tilts too easily, and instead of following facial contrours, tends to lift one cutter off the skin as it it drawn along. I used it 2 days running, then put it back in the box and returned it as coming short of expectations.I was looking forward to replacing the Braun, but this was too expensive for the poor quality shave it gave.

Very poor performance. Used 5 times. each time took longer and more passes to shave hair away as blades became dull . Performance was never great from day 1 and rather disappointed being a Wahl product id expected to retain it's sharpness longer considering the high cost of the replacement blades. made in china so should have skipped this purchase and gone straight for a cheap lemon as there is no difference.

First few days :Like many I grew tired of replacing a good shaver because a new one was almost the same cost as new cutters for the old one. Then my last well known German brand shaver started to discharge quickly after only two years. Replacements were costly and still ancient NiMh battery, so I little faith the new one would be better. Impressed with the long professional hairdresser pedigree of Wahl, LiIon battery and good price I took the plunge on a new maker. I need not have worried. Quick charge, little lighter, ergonomic to shave with, quieter and although very smooth on the skin, a better shave! Now I don't now yet what battery life will be like, and I may return to this and update when I know, but all signs are positive and I am hopeful.** Update **I have now owned and used this product for about six weeks. During that period I have found everything above quite correct. For we daily clean shavers, a good clean shave which is comfortable is the key quality of any shaver, and the Wahl delivers that. Best of all I now discover the battery life between charges is not a few days or even a week, but reliably two weeks at a time! Charges in an hour and forget it for a fortnight, brilliant ! Do I recommend this over it's German and Dutch competitors, absolutely and would I buy it again when it eventually dies, yes I would, it's great.
