JET 8-Inch Bench Grinder with Wire Wheel, 3450 RPM, 1 HP, 115V 1Ph (Model JBG-8W)

The media could not be loaded. I purchased this bench grinder to replace my old 1/3 hp Delta grinder that I had for years, which vibrated like crazy (surprised it didn't fly apart).This Jet bench grinder is ROCK SOLID. The packaging was just as solid as the grinder. The styrofoam was not that wimpy, flaky stuff that comes apart when you touch it. It was the very dense kind and was perfectly molded to fit the grinder. In fact, it was somewhat of a challenge just to get the grinder out of the box.The first thing you will notice is that the grinder is heavy. This is due to everything being made of cast iron, which also helps to keep the vibration down. Installation was a little tricky as I used 2.5 inch lag screws and I had to "finesse" them through the holes since there's not much space between the base and the shaft covers.With my old grinder I would turn it on and wait for what seemed like forever for it to spin up to operating speed. The Jet is almost instantaneous (see the video). Once up to speed there is almost no vibration. Again, I think the sheer mass and weight of the grinder help dampen any vibration.The tool rests are also made of cast iron and when you tighten them down they do not budge or vibrate. The shields are also very well built and easy to adjust.I really like the toggle on/off switch with the guards. It would be very hard to accidentally turn the grinder on.If there's one thing I would say that I'm disappointed in is that there were no dust collector bags. The grinder has very nice dust collector exhausts on both wheel covers, but no bags... Bummer. I guess I will have to order those separately.Overall very happy with this grinder. If you're ready to step up beyond the "hobbyist" grinder I would highly recommend the Jet. Great product.

Quality grinder so smooth you don’t even need to bolt it down. Plenty of power for production needs

THis is a great tool has good power and qulaity built.

This machine came with mixed reviews from both Amazon and other review sources. Overall,y experience has been great thus far. The motor is powerful and has a very fast full-speed startup. There is very little vibration to the point that I have not had to bolt it down so far but definitely plan to after my permanent work bench is built.I have not used the sharpening stone yet but the wore wheel is very amazing and does a great job of stripping paint and getting down to bare metal.The only concern is that the motor does get hot where I could barely touch the motor housing. I'm not sure if this is normal but it's something to be aware of. Additionally, the instructions on how to install the face guards was a little ambiguous. I have to find supplemental videos on YouTube to get more clear instructions on the specific orientation of the parts.Some Jet products seem cheaply made but this specific grinder seems well built and balanced. This is a great bench grinder for the price.

Grinder works and I've only had it a few days. Seems like someone might spend a little more effort with the instructions on the shields. Not the end of the world but a few quality pictures would likely serve better than what was provided in the box.

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS MACHINE!! I meticulously searched and rated various brands of bench grinders by reviews, HP, RPM's, wheel size, material it's made with and most importantly PRICE! As I wanted a well known brand I have used in work atmospheres I wasn't happy with having to pay that much money for one, then I searched JET bench grinders and found this one.Not only is this model built the same as the other brand I wanted, the offered HP is greater than the others, the tool rests are cast rather than stamped steel, it has exhaust ports(something hard to find without paying for it) and the only thing plastic on this machine are the face guards, IT'S ALL METAL AND $200+ LESS THAN THE OTHER BRAND!!It does however come with a Brass wire wheel, why? IDK! so I bought a steel wire wheel to replace it, figured another $20 was no big whoop

The tool vibrated so bad that it cleared the bench it was mounted on. For the price, it should have been an excellent tool. Tried to dress the wheel, didn't help at all

Great grinder, used the same one at work for years , bite the bullet, it’s expensive but is sooo smooth and has the power you need , package was excellent for such a heavy product
